This JBL woofer is in clean, very good condition. It has a sturdy poly-coated paper cone that’s flawless and the voice coil dustcap has no dimples whatsoever. Plus, the surround is foam, but it was evidently factory-treated to prevent the typical decay. Also, the black-enameled steel basket is in great shape with no dings, scratches, or rust, while the galvanized magnet ‘bell’ cover has a bit of oxidation. And, the +/- terminals have never been soldered on the spades and are keyed for polarity (larger spade with red dot = positive). Overall, this driver is quite well preserved. Most importantly, it’s been fully tested and sounds perfect—strong, clean midrange coverage with ample low-end for the platform size. Plus, I tested its DC resistance at 4.6-4.7? consistent with a nominal 6 ohm driver rating. Lastly, the basket flange measure 5” in diameter (yes, the JBL specs sheet should call this a 5” driver, not 5¼”), it stands 2?” tall, and mount holes are 3?” adjacent / 4?” diagonal apart, c-t-c. This is a great find if your suitable period JBL’s have a blown mid/bass driver and will have your speakers sounding their best again in no time.
