Perfectly working classic JBL PB-12 250w RMS 12 from Best Buy in the early 2000s. This sub was a monster back in the day! I remember seeing it at Best Buy when I was a kid and always wanting it. You could hear it across the entire store! Even by todays standards its pretty good. It has a Best Buy sticker on the bottom which I left on for nostalgia sake. If you are searching for this sub then you most likely know it is known for having a very high amp failure rate...this is one the lucky ones. However, there are 2 issues with it, which arent due to the high failure rate but simply due to the age of the amp which applies to EVERY subwoofer, even the best Velodynes from that time which cost $2-3k. 1) It has a slight crackle sound when you turn it on, which goes away in a few seconds. 2) The amp will hum after being on for a while. Amp hum is common in 99% of old subs, I have a few Velodynes from that era and they hum too. If you see other listings for this sub and they dont mention the hum, they either had it tucked in a corner and never got close to it or didnt want to include that info. Im 100% upfront and honest with all my listings, my perfect feedback speaks for itself. The sub plays great at all volume levels. Every sub I get I run through a bunch of bass tracks I have and this JBL played them with zero issues. It will dig to 25hz as specd, but really shines above 27hz. For regular music, this sub will get DOWN. I will be making a demo video as I do with all my subs for the sake of the listing and for my collection. I will also try to get the crackle sound on video as well. The hum sound might be hard, and if you have it in a corner at least 8-10 ft away from your listening position, you wont hear it, unless its dead quiet at night and youre watching a movie and theres a silent part. As you can see, I included pics from inside the cabinet. I love speakers and I always take a look under the hood whenever I get something new. The brown stuff on the amp portion is aged glue. I literally just opened up a 12 Velodyne that had the same brown glue. The sub is meticulously cleaned, and I mean meticulously. 20 yr old speakers VERY rarely can just be wiped down in a couple minutes and be squeaky clean. It doesnt mean they are filthy, but 10-20 yr old caked on dust doesnt just wipe off. I use a wet micro fiber towel to detail all my speakers. Subs on average take about an hr to clean every spec of dirt/grime I see. I, very passionate about speakers so detailing them is part of the fun to bring them back to life and give them the respect they deserve. I dont remember if I dusted the inside/sub frame...since I dont have those pics, I might not have. Why am I selling this classic JBL? TOO many subs lol. Im not kidding when I say I have probably 20 right now in the basement. My collection has gotten out of hand, I cant keep them all. I would if I could! Not only do I prefer to sell it locally, but the IRS didnt go through with the BS $600 and up reporting for Ebay items this year. They will likely do it next year. So buy this by Dec 31st otherwise selling it locally will get even more priority for this reason in addition to not having to box/ship it. Lastly, I havent sold a lot of speakers on ebay(much more local due to shipping being a pain), but the ones I have I do a VERY good job boxing them to make sure you get them EXACTLY as they left my house. The last sub I sold, a 10 Infinity, took a SOLID hour to box.
