Ein natürlicher, flüssiger Klang hat natürlich oberste Priorität mit einem Röhrenverstärker, aber man muss oft Kompromisse bei der enauigkeit und Kontrolle bei den Frequenzextremen eingehen. Dies ist nicht so mit der Defy-7. Die subjektive Leistung bei den Frequenzextremen lässt sehr wenig zu wünschen übrig und könnte nicht als kompromittiert betrachtet werden. Die Laborergebnisse zeigen, wie wenig wir wirklich über die Klangqualität wissen. Wir möchten, dass die tröstlichen Ergebnisse des klassischen Labors dem Hörerlebnis besser entsprechen, aber selbst jetzt, nach rund 45 Jahren Hi-Fi-Entwicklung, sind wir nur ein bisschen weiser. Hier ist nicht genug Platz, um weiter zu gehen, außer zu sagen, dass das Verhalten der Jadis dem des menschlichen Ohrs näher zu sein scheint als das eines Labortestgeräts. Dieser Verstärker ist gut verarbeitet und sieht gut aus. Umgekehrt grenzt die interne Bauqualität an Orten amateurhaft. Der Defy-7 ist ausreichend konservativ konstruiert, um eine viel höhere Zuverlässigkeit als frühere Jadis-Modelle zu genießen, aber nur die Zeit wird es zeigen. Sicherlich könnte Jadis sich mit der Inneneinrichtung anstrengen. Dennoch bin ich dem Defy-7 gegenüber positiv eingestellt. Es funktionierte während der ausgedehnten Testphase einwandfrei und gab viel musikalisches Vergnügen. Angesichts der unvermeidlichen Gesundheitswarnung, die für fast alle Hochleistungs-Röhren-Endstufen gültig ist, kann ich dieses wahre audiophile Design sicher empfehlen. Trotz der geringfügigen Abweichungen, die oben aufgeführt sind, zögere ich nicht, den Defy-7 hoch in die Liste meiner Lieblings-Leistungsverstärker zu stellen und ihn als Referenz in seiner Leistungs- und Preisklasse zu betrachten.
