About the item INFINITY Infinitesimal-IV $88,000 (set of 2, circa 1990) Description Compact speaker system developed as the first product of the Infinitesimal Series. Speaker System The naming is derived from the Infinitesimal I, II, and III compact speakers introduced in 1979. The low-frequency range is provided by a 10.8cm cone-type woofer. The IMG (Injection Molded Graphite) cone made of graphite-reinforced polypropylene, which has an established reputation as Infinitys proprietary technology, a voice coil with a diameter of 2.5 cm, and a magnetic circuit with anti-vibration measures are used to reproduce bass sound beyond its size. The high frequency range is equipped with a newly developed EMIT-R tweeter. This unit inherits Infinitys proprietary EMIT tweeter technology and uses a powerful magnetic field to drive a 3cm-diameter flat diaphragm for superior transient, low distortion, and wide bandwidth reproduction. The EMIT-Rs planar diaphragm consists of a circular voice coil photo-etched onto the surface of an extremely thin KAPTON film. This diaphragm is then directly driven by a magnetic circuit formed by powerful ferrite magnets (70?x10) and a magnetically shielded magnet. In order to eliminate phase contamination, the phases of the bass and treble units are aligned by employing a stepped baffle, and a precise crossover network design ensures faithful time alignment. Infinity Infinitesimal Four Speakers Pair. A great set of speakers but unfortunately one tweeter has damage so selling for parts at a great price. These were quite great sounding speakers with EMIT round tweeters and small woofers. The woofers had surrounds replaced. Both woofers and the other tweeter produce sound but no further testing has been done. Selling for parts as is. See pictures for condition. Price is for the pair.
