Amplifier has the characteristics of 2A3 or 300B Only 15 watts (8 ohm) 30 watts (4 ohm) with 115 DB and 0.01 THD Very nice… Sounds like 85 watts in class AB, enough for any ears… I am in Palatine Local pick up only This is the life time opportunity for the true audiophile and collector… Cash only Unit is almost new, just broken in. 1969 John Hood PURE Class A Amplifier US SELLER!! Unused First of all, I can’t say enough about these “real” (a lot of amps SAY they are Class A and they are NOT; these units are real, pure A) Class A units; all metal case, very good components that would sell for more than the price of the unit, excellent smooth sound, and built like tanks. That being said, unless you are an electronics pro, you need to know (as I say below) that a lot of these units (AS they come from offshore!) have “manufacturing/assembly issues”; all of which in this unit, HAVE BEEN FIXED. This unit probably has like 8 hrs total of run time, and as such, like a new unit (which it essentially is), is not even “burned in” yet. Oh and these units *correctly; unlike most home audio, use a standard 3 connector computer cord for power, and I will include one with the unit. PLEASE READ THIS!! I need to stress these critical points: 1) first of all, I want to say that I’m such a fan of these units that regardless of where you get one, they are excellent, and if you have an application for one, by all means get one BUT; 2) these units (as they are shipped from offshore) WILL have problems; which we fixed in THIS unit; (like this one; among other things had the main system ground wires floating loose in the chassis!); SO if you buy one from offshore you MUST have it looked at by a hardware professional before you put it into service (probably $200+ more); 3) these units may weigh a ton and get very warm, but they are NOT “high power” amplifiers; so if you are a “bass head” and want to drive speakers with say, 12” air suspension woofers, this is not your amp; and last but not least; 4) these units are HEAVY and they put out a LOT of heat; as in they are small, but the all-metal construction and huge transformers make them way heavier than you would expect them to be; and these amps (really any pure Class A’s) CANNOT be wedged in between other components AND you MUST NOT put anything on top of them!! I wanted to also note that in the pictures of the unit any unusual coloration or “marking” (except bottom) is strictly effects from my studio lights while being photographed, the unit is in unused condition.
