Here we have a Heathkit HW-101 1--80 Meter Band 100W SSB Radio Ham Transceiver I purchased this from a radio ham operator who showed it me working. So it is receiving and Transmitting. I have checked the tubes, as it has been sitting for a few months since I purchased it and replaced any that were either weak or close to it. I have not operated it myself as I meant to get a proper antenna and Microphone for it, but never got around to it. I meant to take my radio Ham course but, with work and everyday life I just do not have the time. Now there are a couple of little things I know want doing... A couple of the knobs need tightening as they slip and do not point to what they are supposed to point to, and also the lamp behind the main dial display is dim.This is an old piece of equipment and I am no radio ham expert so please, as with all old electronics , to do a little work on it at times etc etc. Please see pictures for cosmetic condition Thank you for looking We check our items twice!!! VACUUM TUBE TESTING I do not Sell Just Passable Vacuum Tubes. All tubes purchased have loads of life left in them. Low and weak tubes are unceremoniously thrown in the nearest trash can, unless they are collectors Items. When using the word “Matched” it means in test results rather than in cosmetic looks. Whilst I endeavor to put tubes together from the same year and look the same, this is not always the case. I may have the same tube but from differing years matched up in test results, which means they may cosmetically or internally look a little different... The numbers/letters in parentheses are Equivalents put in to help people to find the correct tube. If it does not say MATCHED then please do not consider them to be such. I use a TV7/U military spec Tester which is calibrated . I have 4 of these machines and all display a slightly differing value if I test the same tube, as two testers are never the same. So this shows what I get, and what you get may be slightly different. So all test results are a guide only.I also use a Hickok 752 /800/600 or Amplitrex AT1000 for testing All tubes have passed the Gas and short tests. This listing is for a Heathkit SB-101 HF Ham Shortwave Radio Transceiver. This vacuum tube transceiver covers all pre-WARC 79 amateur bands in SSB and CW. You can tell from the riveted-into-place PC boards that this radio was Factory Built. The build quality is exceptional. Looking at the closeup of the RF drive board, you will see very little board dirt and no discoloration. This radio was not used very much. Cosmetically it is far above average with some nicks on the case but the paint is too nice to demand a repaint or overspray. You might be able to see in one of the photos that the VFO dial has a crack. I have a spare and will include it with the sale. If the selling price goes to the point at which I deem it worth my time, I will even install it for you. I already have a lot of time into it as you will see. I did need to do some work on it. Mostly the need for work resulted from lack of use. 1) I disassembled, cleaned, polished the shaft bushings on the Mode switch.2) I disassembled, cleaned, polished the shaft bushings on the Frequency Control switch.3) I replaced the Plate Tuning capacitor.4) I replaced the Plate Load capacitor.5) I cleaned switches and potentiometers.6) I removed the brass commutating contacts on the Preselector variable capacitors and polished them.7) I replaced the rubber O ring belts on the Load capacitor and Preselector capacitors.8) I cleaned tube sockets.9) I tested the tubes. This radio has a strong receiver and the transmitter produces 100+ watts output on all bands. It is 100% guaranteed to be as described. I am happy to answer your questions to the best of my ability.
