For sale is a super cool and very rare Hitachi personal radio cassette player. It is in stunning cosmetic condition and includes the original case. It shows some promise but needs some work to be properly functional. The good bits...*It is in lovely, condition. Complete, weighty and very attractive.*Rare and collectible.*The radio circuits and tuning dial work.*The amplifier stage, cassette motor and buttons work.*The LED lights for tuning and tape direction work.*The adaptor plug & headphone sockets work*It plays, RW and FF for short periods (see below)*The original case is included. A bit stained, etc - but I actually think it looks worse in the photos. The not so good bits...*The tests were carried out using the mains adaptor plug, as one of the battery terminals is not connected - so it does not work with batteries.*It chews tapes. I could get it to play for a few sections, then it snarls up. I could catch it by RW or FF and this took up the slack again to a degree, but the mech needs a proper looking at. Basically, its a rare opportunity to acquire one of these units in beautiful cosmetic condition, but buyers PLEASE consider this as a project. Ebay only permits a short video, so I can only show a quick demo - but you wil see the radio, amp & mech working. This proves that it is genuine and all there, but do not buy it thinking that it will work without a stripdown and some effort. I am selling this for repair, NOT as a fully working unit. However, the video demo shows that it is not a hollow shell! For the right person (who wants to repair it, or maybe just a collector that wants to admire it) it would be great, but I am selling this in good faith, with full disclosure of the issues and there are no returns.
