I have owned this Hana SL MC cartridge for 2 years. I purchased it new from Audio Advisors. I have not used it regularly and estimate it has less than 100 hours use. I have tried multiple low output cartridges in the Hana price range and have found their low output difficult to amplify and I am using a 300 wpc Parasound amplifier with a Parasound JC3 Jr phono preamp. Of course I can turn the volume up but to me I think I lose too much head room at higher volume. So I recently purchased a Hana SH as they’ve gone on sale to make room for the new MKII carts. I have found the high output to be much more to my liking so I’m selling the low output Hana. I will use all the Hana SH packaging to safely package the SL. The pictures show that the Hana is mounted on a Jelco headshell. I am selling it with the SL as a promotion but I recommend that I remove the cart from the headshell so to better protect the cart in transit. A new Hana SL sells for $600 and Jelco headshell for $86 on Amazon. I will sell this Hana and headshell for $370. If you do not want the headshell I will sell the Hana only for $325. Buyer will pay shipping cost quoted below to the lower 48 states. I rate the cartridge in excellent condition and I am happy to accept returns but only if it is found to be defective. Spent a lot on this turntable but barely had time to really use it, so deciding to give it to a better home. The iconic Planar 3Rega has pioneered the use of lightweight rigid plinths. Clever use of lightweight particulate core with a highly rigid phenolic resin skin became the foundations of the high level of performance achieved by the now iconic original Planar range.The new Planar 3 takes this design philosophy to the next level. A lightweight acrylic laminated plinth strengthened using a new improved double brace system mounted specifically where the increased rigidity is required (between the tonearm mounting and the main hub bearing) which forms a structurally sound “stressed beam” assembly. This rigid plinth design prevents energy absorption and unwanted resonance, which will add unnatural distortions to the music. Equally, heavier mass can transfer more unwanted energy, such as motor or bearing noise directly into the rotating record. The use of braces instead of the complete skin allows double thickness phenolic resin in these key areas while providing further weight reduction to the plinth which directly addresses the issue of mass absorption and unwanted energy transmission. Up for sale is a wonderful Hana SL Mono moving coil cartridge that has been installed professionally on a carved wood headshell. If you know the Hana line, then you probably know that the SL is often called a “giant killer” for its exquisite sound. This is the Mono version of the SL. It is a true mono in that it delivers great single sound to both channels without the need for separate cables. You also do not need to use the mono switch on your amplifier (if you have one). Since this is a moving coil cartridge, you will need a MC switch on your amp or else an external phono preamp that can do it justice. The sound is glorious and full, and in my opinion, head and shoulders over the Ortofon SE Mono. The cart’s Shibata stylus has less than 50 hours on it and as you can see from the photos it is in beautiful condition. Cartridge comes mounted on a handmade wood headshell. I will ship it with the Hana’s original packaging and style guard.
