This is the most desired Hafler amp made, was known as the xeliner amp. Very low distortion and awesome available power Has mosfets instead of bipolar transistors for a more refined sound. I have ran it for quite a while but got my hands on a Emotiva SA-250 and can only afford one amp at a time. I will probable regret selling but no choice. Comes with manual. Has a few scratches and dings but everything works as it should. These are very hard to find.

Nice clean example of a classic Hafler XL series amplifier, purchased from original owner last year. New electrolytic capacitors on driver boards, Nichicon Muse and Silmic II. Beautiful MOSFET sound with plenty of clean, distortion free power. DC offset is well within spec on both channels and bias is set at 310ma. Original box and owners manual included.

Clean, one owner, vintage, conservatively rated at 145 watts per channel, with box and operation manual This XL-280 Power Amp factory-assembled unit (s/n 151281019) was bought new by the seller in the late 1980s, is cosmetically very good, and was fully functional when removed from the audio system in 2020 (then stored in a heated room in the shipping box). Hafler rated the power as follows: “less than 0.05% total harmonic distortion at any power level up to 145 watts continuous average power per channel into 8 ohms at any frequency between 20 Hz and 20 kHz with both channels driven”. The seller (who has no way of confirming this rating) has never turned the preamp volume past halfway and has never detected clipping. In 2019, the lighted power rocker switch was replaced due to scratchiness. The seller recently listened with clear sound on both speakers and no significant problems. There is a barely audible transformer hum which the service technician was unable to eliminate by tightening the mounting. The hum is only detectable when there is no sound from the speakers. The power lamp illuminates and operates without pops or clicks. The XL-280 includes two spare speaker fuses (none have ever blown). Also included is a “perfectionist’s tweaking” tool to match the amplifier output to specific speakers via a detailed procedure defined in the operation manual (this procedure has never been attempted by seller due to lack of perceived need).
