GH Hadcock GH228 Super Arm - GH Uni-Lift, Made in England.I found this object in my fathers storage room. My father was a music producer. I dont know a lot of details about it. Its condition, as you can see from the photos, is excellent.

These early decks are renowned for their warm fluid sound. It is s/n 26393 – and has 22-Feb-1978 date-stamped on the inside of the plinth. Everything works. It has the original red button power supply and a spot-welded sub-chassis with a gold colored bearing body. The motor is very quiet , smooth and gives a correct and stable speed. The plinth is a “Greaves Fluted” type in the now unobtainable Afromosia wood and is in excellent condition with no obvious marks or dents. It still has the original makers s/n label on the back. It has correctly functioning sprung hinges and the transparent lid is in excellent undamaged condition. It has a rare and sought after Hadcock GH228 uni-pivot tonearm which is in excellent , complete and working condition. It’s fitted with an Ortofon VMS20E Cartridge/Stylus and even has an additional extra-heavy counterweight and an additional brand new, boxed replacement stylus. This tone-arm is original continuous wired type and is in excellent shape. Admittedly it’s very tricky to set up correctly but sounds fantastic when it’s all properly balanced and aligned. The deck has enjoyed continuous ownership from new, up to 2022. Recently I have replaced the suspension springs and grommets as the original ones were beginning to sag. I also had a new drive belt fitted as again, the original one was becoming brittle. It’s been fully thoroughly cleaned and serviced. I had considered further upgrades but decided it’s better left alone as it sounds fantastic and there aren’t many of these original specification red button decks left now as most were personalized or upgraded. This is a very delicate and sensitive deck so its listed for collection only ..... no returns accepted once it leaves my care.

Hadcock GH228 Unipivot Tonearm, full working order, complete with phono cables and earth wire. Has been fitted to Thorens TD160 B Mk II and working beautifully since late 1970s. I have included photographs of the mounted tonearm, and after removal. The phono cables and earth wire are connected to the tonearm through a soldered connection board as shown in the photographs. On the Thorens the connection board is screwed directly to a suitable point on the chassis. *************The cartridge and turntable are not included in the sale**************** I bought the deck already set up with the arm in 1978 which didnt come with the original Hadcock box or manual etc but it will be well packaged. Refurbished & Serviced holds speed beautifully and will give many years of listening pleasure. Suspended wooden Sub chassis with a 10mm bronze bearing, sub platter and platter made of Tufnol. On/off is via the discrete button on the front. Runs either 33.3rpm or 45rpm, speed is changed by lifting the (new) belt between the different sized pulleys. Original (removable) lid is in great condition with no cracks, chips or splits and looks fantastic. Hinge resistance is adjusted via the screw heads either side of the hinge which can be set to self support the lid if you wanted it up during operation. Overall this is an absolute stunner and wouldn’t look out of place in most living rooms.
