Expedited, Priority Mail and FedEx shipping available Once payment is received, we ship your item on the next business day. For sale is a first generation 1947 GE VR IRM-6C This is the Shellac coated MU Metal CONSUMER MODEL of the VARIABLE RELUCTANCE cartridge (check my other auctions for the professional CHROME PLATED Professional IRM-8C model)Also of note is that the inner cartridge is floating on rubber padding inside the Mu metal case. This is to increase compliance and and shock resistance. IRM-6C (catalog numbers RPX-10) Here is some information about this cartridge: Typevariable reluctance Output Voltage11 mV Frequency Response20Hz - Tracking Force28.5 grs Mass Channel Separation Channel Balance Load Impedance Output Impedance300 ohms Stylus Stylus Tipvarious spherical 3mil Cantilever Dynamic Compliance0.87 x10-6cm/Dyne Static Compliance NotesMono 78RPM. *4.8cm/Sec GE cartridge is an IRM-6C from 1947, often wrongly called RPX-10 it was one of the first Variable reluctance units manufactured by GE .... The patent of the principle had been deposited at the end of 1945,it was designed only for 78 use There was also the IRM-8C it was the professional model of the IRM-6C with a chrome plated body I believe that at that time, this sort of cartridge was mostly marketed for professional use, as were the earliest RPX models. The advertisement here promotes a diamond stylus, and my mind boggles at the cost of a diamond needle. This would have been at least $30.00 in 1940s US Dollars. Who would have had that sort of money? But it might have made sense for a radio broadcaster. Normal needles for things like this were osmium and, sometimes, sapphire. But considering the suffering required to replace the needle with this one, a diamond made sense. Condition: MU METAL Body with orange lacquer coating. DC Resistance 270 Ohm. Body in perfect condition, stylus bar clean and straight. Stylus seems to be missingStylus is not user replaceable but could be handled by a professional retipper. The two terminals at the back have been broken off to fit cartridge in a headshell in the past. There is enough left of the terminals to solder new leads.Otherwise untested. Pls check more cartridges and phono items in my other auctions. For sale is Washer, Spring and C-CLIP of the Stylus Assembly that holds the T Carrier for the GE VR Triple Play RPJ etc cartridge. I HAVE NOT TESTED IT ON A GE VR II, dont know if it will fit. THESE ARE ORIGINAL GE PARTS from a GE VR RPJ cartridge. C-Clip: Stamped Metal about .175 diameter.Spring: 45 diameter.spring steel .45 long .15 diameter.Washer: Copper about .245 diameter. These small parts are most often lost: When the C clip is removed, the spring throws everything out and spring and C-clip are gone. The C-Clip has a lip on the underside, which seats and centers the spring. The C-Clip is pressed in a notch around the T Carrier shaft. These are the small pesky parts, often lost, which make the turn around feature of the triple catridge work. If you refer to the first picture, it is as follows: The T-carrier with the two LP/ 78 rpm styli is stuck through the cartridge body. Next comes a tiny copper washer, which prevents the spring from gouging the body. Next comes the steel spring, which you have to depress to fit the C-Clip on the shaft. On top you then put the knob. Expedited, Priority Mail and FedEx shipping available Once payment is received, we ship your item on the next business day. CARTRIDGE NOT INCLUDED, for Reference only. For sale is the C-CLIP IN PICTURE 3 & 4 ONLY For sale is ONE C-CLIP of the Stylus Assembly that holds the spring down on the T Carrier for the GE VR Triple Play RPJ etc cartridge. I HAVE NOT TESTED IT ON A GE VR II, dont know if it will fit. THIS IS AN ORIGINAL GE PART from a GE VR RPJ cartridge. Stamped brass about .175 diameter. This small part is most often lost: When the C clip is removed, the spring throws everything out and spring and C-clip are gone.
