Shipping: All items will be packed safely in a sturdy package for safe shipping. We ship internationally and offer combined shipping for multiple purchases. Expedited, Priority Mail and FedEx shipping available Once payment is received, we ship your item on the next business day. For sale is a first generation 1947 GE VR IRM-6C This is the Shellac coated MU Metal CONSUMER MODEL of the VARIABLE RELUCTANCE cartridge (check my other auctions for the professional CHROME PLATED Professional IRM-8C model)Also of note is that the inner cartridge is floating on rubber padding inside the Mu metal case. This is to increase compliance and and shock resistance. IRM-6C (catalog numbers RPX-10) Here is some information about this cartridge: Typevariable reluctance Output Voltage11 mV Frequency Response20Hz - Tracking Force28.5 grs Mass Channel Separation Channel Balance Load Impedance Output Impedance300 ohms Stylus Stylus Tipvarious spherical 3mil Cantilever Dynamic Compliance0.87 x10-6cm/Dyne Static Compliance NotesMono 78RPM. *4.8cm/Sec GE cartridge is an IRM-6C from 1947, often wrongly called RPX-10 it was one of the first Variable reluctance units manufactured by GE .... The patent of the principle had been deposited at the end of 1945,it was designed only for 78 use There was also the IRM-8C it was the professional model of the IRM-6C with a chrome plated body I believe that at that time, this sort of cartridge was mostly marketed for professional use, as were the earliest RPX models. The advertisement here promotes a diamond stylus, and my mind boggles at the cost of a diamond needle. This would have been at least $30.00 in 1940s US Dollars. Who would have had that sort of money? But it might have made sense for a radio broadcaster. Normal needles for things like this were osmium and, sometimes, sapphire. But considering the suffering required to replace the needle with this one, a diamond made sense. Condition: MU METAL Body with orange lacquer coating. DC Resistance 270 Ohm. Body in perfect condition, stylus bar clean and straight. Stylus seems to be missingStylus is not user replaceable but could be handled by a professional retipper. The two terminals at the back have been broken off to fit cartridge in a headshell in the past. There is enough left of the terminals to solder new leads.Otherwise untested. Pls check more cartridges and phono items in my other auctions. All items will be safely packed to avoid any damage and promptly shipped. Please check my other listings for some great vintage Turntable and Phonograph items, Phonograph and Music books! Description
For sale is a first generation 1947 GE VR IRM-8C This is the Chrome plated PROFESSIONAL MODEL of the VARIABLE RELUCTANCE cartridge (check my other auctions for the MU Metal dull consumer model) This the the Chrome Plated IRM-8C (catalog numbers RPX-25 and RPX-29), not the consumer version IRM-6C (catalog numbers RPX-10) This seems to be a custom production for CAPEHART with wire leads instead of terminals and no GE Logo on the shell.Notable about this cartridge is that the inner cartridge is floating on rubber padding inside the chrome housing. This was to give the cartridge more compliance and shock resistance Here is some information about this cartridge: Typevariable reluctance Output Voltage11 mV Frequency Response20Hz - Tracking Force28.5g Mass Channel Separation Channel Balance Load Impedance Output Impedance300 ohms Stylus Stylus Tipvarious spherical 3mil Cantilever Dynamic Compliance0.87 x10-6cm/Dyne Static Compliance NotesMono 78RPM. *4.8cm/Sec GE cartridge is an IRM-6C from 1947, often wrongly called RPX-10 it was one of the first Variable reluctance units manufactured by GE .... Leads cut off, about 3 mm long 78 rpm stylus tip is present, but I have no idea of the stylus tip material, or the amount of wear. Description
Vintage phono cart from the estate of a man who I believe was a hi-fi dealer back in the day. This cart appears to have never been removed from its box or installed/used. I have not attempted to test it in any way, but will guarantee it to be free from any major defects. Please study pics for further details, and check my other auctions for more carts from the same estate. VERY IMPORTANT NOTE FOR BUYERS OUTSIDE THE USA: eBays new international shipping program currently does not allow for combining multiple items into one package/shipment. Until they figure out a way to change this, unfortunately the only workaround that eBay has suggested is to cancel all wins from multi-item non-USA bidders and re-list all the individual items in one listing for the bidder to buy. This is apparently the only way that multi-item orders from non-USA buyers can be shipped in one package at this time. Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter. This item is being sold strictly AS-IS, as described. Please be sure to scroll to the bottom of this page to see if any important questions have been asked/answered about this item prior to placing your bid. Local pickup for large/fragile/valuable items is always welcome. If you inform me that you intend to pick the item up in person, I will request cash payment. For small/non-fragile items of minimal value, I prefer to ship even if you are local. Please be aware that I often use recycled packaging materials when safe and available, so your item may not arrive in a brand new box/package, but it will be safely packaged nonetheless.Email contact from winning bidder must be made within 4 days of the end of the auction. (If you are planning on being away from your computer during this time frame, please let me know in advance.) Payment must be made within 10 days of the end of the auction or you risk forfeiting the item. International Buyers – Please Note: Import duties, taxes, and charges are not included in the item price or shipping cost. These charges are the buyers responsibility. Please check with your countrys customs office to determine what these additional costs will be prior to bidding or buying. Once you receive the item and you are satisfied with the transaction, please let me know by leaving positive feedback for me, and I will then reciprocate. If, for some reason, you are not satisfied with the item, send me an email and Im sure we can work out a solution to the problem without the need for negative feedback! Oh, and thanks for looking! Expedited, Priority Mail and FedEx shipping available Once payment is received, we ship your item on the next business day. CARTRIDGE NOT INCLUDED, for Reference only. For sale is the COPPER WASHER IN PICTURE 4 ONLY For sale is ONE COPPER WASHER of the Stylus Assembly that sits under the spring on the T Carrier for the GE VR Triple Play RPJ etc cartridge. I HAVE NOT TESTED IT ON A GE VR II, dont know if it will fit. THIS IS AN ORIGINAL GE PART from a GE VR RPJ cartridge. Copper about .245 diameter. This copper washer sits tightly on the T carrier shaft under the spring and prevents the spring from digging into the cartridge body. These are the small pesky parts, often lost, which make the turn around feature of the triple catridge work. If you refer to the first picture, it is as follows: The T-carrier with the two LP/ 78 rpm styli is stuck through the cartridge body. Next comes a tiny copper washer, which prevents the spring from gouging the body. Next comes the steel spring, which you have to depress to fit the C-Clip on the shaft. On top you then put the knob.
Condition: Great, excellent plating with only faint scuffing sides of housing a little wavy from pressure fitting, stylus bar straight and undamaged. Leads cut off, about 3 mm long 78 rpm stylus tip is present, but I have no idea of the stylus tip material, or the amount of wear. Stylus is not consumer exchangeable and you may have to send cartridge to a professional for retippingShort wire leads with short insulation cover. DC Resistance 249 Ohm. Otherwise untested.
