Daran ist wohl eine fleckige Linse o.ä. beteiligt. Im RD-2 arbeitet eine große Elektro-Spule, die zunächst ein starkes magnetisches Feld aufbaut und danach innerhalb einer halben Minute gleichmäßig wieder absenkt. Der Abschluss des automatisch gesteuerten Vorgangs wird durch eine Kontrolleuchte am Gerät angezeigt. Dadurch wird eine kontrollierte Entmagnetisierung des behandelten Mediums/Kabels/Steckers erreicht. Magnetische Zustände stören eine saubere Abtastung eines optischen Mediums, bzw. beeinflussen den Stromfluss in metallischen Gegenständen und führen so zu einer hörbaren Klang-Verschlechterung. Jedes bekannte optische Speichermedium unterliegt diesem “magnetischen Effekt”. Nach einer Behandlung mit dem RD-2 braucht es im Normalfall eine Zeit von mindestens 6 Monaten, bis eine erneute Behandlung erforderlich wird. Ein MUSS für jeden Besitzer einer High-End-Anlage. Das Ergebnis einer regelmäßigen Entmagnetisierung -etwa 2x jährlich- ist bei guten Anlagen sehr gut wahrnehmbar.
