This is a Fostex G103 bookshelf speaker. The following maintenance has been performed. Driver restoration New front baffle New wood louvers Replacement of bass reflex duct Replacement of wiring Replacement of connectors Change of sound absorbing material Replacement of screws The following restoration processes have been performed on the full-range driver “FE103”. - Reupholstered edges with foam - Damper (spider) replaced - Cone stained black - Rust-proof coating on the frame - New foam packing installed Front baffle is reupholstered from plywood to MDF. New cypress wood louvers on baffle. Dye varnish + matte urethane finish. The emblem is a transplant of the original. It is fixed type. The bass reflex duct is replaced with a resin one instead of a paper one. Twin ports are used, and the resonance frequency is around 80Hz. Internal wiring has been replaced with 14 AWG OFC cables. The connectors on the rear panel have been replaced with binding posts compatible with banana plugs. The sound-absorbing material on the rear panel has been replaced with felt instead of glass wool. All screws on the rear panel have been renewed. ------ The exterior of the walnut veneer-finished cabinet has only a few dents on the corners of the top side (photos 6 and 7) and a few scuffs and scratches. Considering its age, it is a beautiful piece. The back panel without veneer is partially peeling. ------ This is a restoration & arrangement of a vintage speaker estimated to be late 70s-80s. The early models of the traditional FE series, which continue to the present day, have been overhauled to revive their reproduction capability, mainly in the low frequency range. The high response of the mid and high frequencies, which has been carried down to the current models, is also still present. We tailored wood louvers to fit the angular and simple cabinet.
