The Forte amp has been upgraded by Jon Soderberg to turn it into a pure class A amp at 50watts/channel After upgrade: The Black Gate caps are visible on the output boards. Also installed were new PS caps, soft recovery diodes and the amp converted from 200 wpc Class A/B to 50 wpc Class A, via rebiasing and dropping the rail voltage from 76V to 39V. In this configuration the IGBTs operate at only 50% capacity vs. nearly 100% in the Model 6 A/B configuration. How do it sound? Fantastic. If anything, it sounds punchier than before the upgrade/conversion.
