This Fisher MT-729 is a belt drive, two speed, fully automatic turntable, with linear tracking tonearm. All of the functions are working smoothly, as designed and play sound quality is good. The stylus in the magnetic phono cartridge is in good shape, as is the belt. The design advantage of the linear tracking tonearm is that the stylus cantilever remains perpendicular to the radius of the vinyl record through the outer to inner groove play. The arm responds to the minimal pressure on the stylus as the grooves move concentrically toward the center spindle, moving the arm ever so minimally, incrementally.
