Der Marantz befindet sich in einem absolut voll-funktionsfähigen Zustand, in allen Funktionsbereichen. Das Gerät wurde vor kurzem fachmännisch revidiert und audiophil modifiziert (Gesamtaufwand: ca. 40 Arbeitsstunden): • Die CD-Schublade wurde gereinigt und leicht geschmiert. Der Antriebsriemen wurde erneuert. • Das CD-Laufwerk und der Laser wurden gereinigt. Das Laufwerk wurde mit Dämmungsmatten gegen akustischen und mechanischen Vibrationen geschützt. • Die Beleuchtung des CD-Fachs wurde mit warm-weißen LEDs wiederherstellt. • Die kalte Lötstellen wurden geprüft und ggf. nachgelötet. • Die Stromversorgung. Die Taktung des D/A-Chips wurde nach Grundig-Art verändert (Grundig DEM Reclocking). Diese beiden Modifikationen tragen zu einer weiteren Verbesserung der Dynamik und Basswiedergabe bei. • Der digitale Filter-Chip wurde auf einem Modul montiert, was NOS-/OS-Schalter hat und somit kann man das Gerät zwischen NOS- und OS- Modus bei Bedarf umschalten. • Um Jitter zu reduzieren, wurde der Quarzoszillator durch einen hochpräzisen Master-Clock ersetzt. • Der obere Deckel wurde zusätzlich gegen Schwingungen gedämpft. • Um die Schwingungsdämpfung weiter zu verbessern, haben die Gerätefüße Kork-Auflagen erhalten. Das Tuning hat sich sehr gelohnt, nach den Modifikationen klingt der Marantz noch lebendiger und wärmer. Mehrere Hörproben haben gezeigt, dass das Gerät in Sachen Basswiedergabe, Dynamik und Detailtreue deutlich einen nicht-modifizierten Marantz CD-80 übertrifft. In Sachen Detailauflösung sucht der Marantz seinesgleichen: man hört Passagen, die sonst kaum auffällig sind ... The drive belt was renewed; • The CD drive and laser were cleaned. The CD drive was protected with insulation mats against acoustic and mechanical vibrations; • The lighting of the CD compartment was restored with warm-white LEDs; • The cold solder joints were checked and resoldered of required; • Mains supply: The mains filter was improved with a double input choke. The mains transformer was converted from 220V to 240V.
