I am downsizing my audio collection due to an upcoming divorce. The ball and chain isnt good enough to get this fine universal player / transport. I do the majority of my listening playing records and this player was primarily used when I was too lazy to play my LPs. Demo Video - https://youtu.be/wnre5U1OdyU What an incredible piece! Im a big fan of TEAC and have been for quite some time. Im in love with my UD-505 DAC and wouldnt trade it for anything. Esoteric is the high end line of TEAC and this player originally retailed for $5,600. You can do your own research and learn more about this player. Stunning is the word I would use. I believe it has roughly the same audio section as the venerated SA-60 SACD player, with the addition of video capabilities. The DV-60 plays DVD, DVD-A, SACD, CD, and even some burned discs. This thing is built like a tank with gold-plated connectors and one incredibly solid-sounding transport. Of course no one cares about DVD, youre buying this as one of the finest SACD players out there. We all know lasers wear out, thats a sad fact of life. Heres where I want you SACD fans to pay attention. I strongly believe that this player may never have played a SACD before I tested it. It may very well be a virgin SACD player. Why do I say that? This came from a high-end, but old-school estate sale. When I saw this I grabbed it right away, but I really had more interest in looking for SACDs since most people dont know what they are and a box of the right SACDs could be worth more than the player itself. I pored over everything and found no evidence of a single SACD in the house. I asked one of the organizers if they had sold any discs before I arrived and no one could remember any. This room was filled primarily with reel-to-reel and turntables. There were a fair number of redbook CDs, but not one single SACD. Other than a new old stock unit, this probably has fewer hours on the SACD laser than virtually anything else out there. Testing - I tested the redbook CD player using the balanced output into my Audio GD headphone amp using Meze Empereans and the sound was absolutely sublime. I did test the DVD player just to make sure it would read a DVD and it had no problems at all, but I didnt verify the picture. Who cares, you want this as a SACD player, right? In the interest of full disclosure, my first test disc was Golden Earring Naked III and I could not get the SACD layer to play. Its my oldest disc and not in the best condition. I was somewhat disheartened until I popped in my newest disc, Madman Across the Water. The SACD playback video demonstrates the speed and ease with which the SACD loads and plays. You can see the player displaying SACD with the DSD light and multi-channel icons active when that disc is loaded. As youre probably aware, some players just dont like some discs. My old OPPO would not play Naked III either. Im going to be picky and say condition is 8.5. There are some very slight marks on the top from the feet of the component above it, but its minor. I didnt notice anything else. It comes with the original remote which I also tested and works flawlessly. As a side note, this is the heaviest remote I have ever held, and that includes the Audio GD which is machined from a solid billet of aluminum. The original factory double boxes are also included and will be used to ship the player. I didnt take pictures, but theyre in good condition, if a little dusty. The original manual is also included, though it has some discoloration and writing on it. I will ship this in the original double box and foam from the factory. The full weight is nearly 50 lbs so shipping will be a bit spendy, depending where you live. My preferred shipping method is Fed-Ex ground, but contact me if you want to discuss other arrangements.
