Quad ESL 57s In beautiful cosmetic condition and sounding excellent. Serviced and Re finished. Full demonstration available with good quality equipment available prior to purchase. Come with power cables with Bulgin connectors(all original and working neons) May be able to deliver within reasonable distance for fuel cost. Here is a summary of what has been done. Full Strip down was carried out in order to deep clean,the wooden cheeks and feet were sanded and treated with Danish Oil. Grills were resprayed and any dings rolled out. The Transformers and H.T boards are all original and working perfectly. They sound amazing and dont require anything doing. Any inspection welcome.

Notes: -Sound and functionality of both speakers is perfect. -there is a small area of the grill on 1 speaker with a depression in it-noticeable in the last Pic. The grill is soft metal so if you took it off youd certainly be able to push it out. -Im including a pair of upgraded bulgin 3-pin power cords which are nearly impossible to find. The rear leg on one of the speakers appears to be a replacement as it doesnt quite match the others - its very close though.

This pair of speakers has not been used for about 20 years. They were working when last used but given the time they have been stored I thought it best not to switch them on which is why is why I have described them for parts not working. They will require a full service and almost certainly new parts. Serial numbers are 28289 & 28299, legs and leads included. Collection only from the Wirral

You are bidding on British design classic - a pair of QUAD ESL 57 speakers. These are in bronze and excellent cosmetic condition for there age. Serial number 7899 and 6524. The speakers look to have been serviced in recent years. From what I can see thru the grills - the bass and treble panels have been replaced and are very clean with no rips or tears to the dust covers. The bass panels and treble panels all seem to match visually and sonically. The rear acoustic wadding has been removed from both speakers. This is common practice as the material can smell a bit after many years. There are no dents in the grills. I have tested the speakers over the last 2 weeks or so, and they sound great. They power up very quickly, with no issues at all. No clicks, fizz or humming. The volume of both speakers are the same.The speakers come with a set of 3 pin Bulgin mains cables I’ve uploaded good quality photos. So, grab yourself a bargain and a piece of hi-fi history. The speakers are working perfectly, but due to their age and transportation, I cannot offer a guarantee or returns, therefore the speakers are sold “as is”. Quad ESL 57 Speakers. Stacked.. I have owned these speakers for some years. The lower pair firstly being 16729 and 16713, these were rebuilt by One Thing Audio during my ownership with all panels replaced plus audio transformers, clamp boards and rectifier boards and used as a stereo pair. 2002 i purchased my second pair from One Thing as a cancelled order that they had serviced for a customer. The stack frames perhaps basic but sturdy were built up and the four speakers have been used since with valve amplifiers.The speakers have always been repaired/ serviced by One Thing with the most recent job by the Steve RIP to replace all treble panels using One Thing Otec trebles, this job alone cost £1000 carried out in 2020. Paperwork amd mains cables included.Collection only from Coventry. Cash prefered.

Here for auction are my ESL 57’s I haven’t had these very long and also it’s the only pair I’ve listened to. To me they have a beautiful open clear sound with fantastic imagery. The sound does not appear to come from the speakers it comes from the room, they really are amazing. Please look at the photos as they form part of the description. Overall, the speakers are in good condition with only a minor dent in one of the grills. This is easily taken out as already took the grills off and did this and then the other day I put another tiny dent in one. They have the original Bulgin mains plugs and three of the four speaker input plugs are genuine with one that was replaced with a very similar, however round, socket. There is nothing about the sides that would prevent them from being restored to new condition. The legs are all tight and apart from faded finish would also come up like new. The speakers have been back to Quad to have Protection boards fitted. There is a red plate visible from outside to that effect. Also, there are stickers in both speakers with a customer number on them placed there by Quad I imagine. I don’t know any more history on these except they were stored in a heated garage for over 10 years till recently when I acquired them. The serial numbers are 20919 and 19081, so they are not a true pair but have been together for over 35 years indicating that they have had the same upgrades at the same time and together. As I said before, I never heard any other ESL’s so I can’t compare the quality of the sound. When I removed the grills, I sucked out all the dust vey carefully and noted that none of the panels are in any way damaged, no arching or burnt spots. They just couldn’t sound as good as they do if that were the case. I know the previous owner but he doesn’t know their complete history, he inherited them from his father 30 years ago. I have been as honest as possible in this description, best thing would be for you to come and listen to them and decide for yourself. I am in TW8Brentford area. I havent listed posting as this is not practical unless proper transit box’s made especially for them are purchased from a seller here on eBay for £60. I am also selling a pair Quad II amps which have just been totally refurbished, and a Quad 405-2 power amp which also has been refurbished. Either of these two would be perfectly suitable to drive these speakers plus a Meridian 101/b pre amp and104 tuner as well as other things. If you have any questions please ask.

Quad Esl 57 Original Clamp Boards. Removed from esl 57 a few years ago, during refurbishment. At the time of refurbishment the panels were fine, and the speakers worked well. Nothing indicated anything wrong with the clamp boards. But replaced them along with other new components. Sitting on a shelf. Someone might have a use for them
