The GSP Audio Era Gold Mk.V is about twice as expensive as the Perreaux SXV1 and the Musical Fidelity XLPSv3, but it sounded at least 10 times better. It had nearly full dynamic expression at both ends of the scale, and absolutely astonishing bass performance. Its designed for high-output MCs or MMs of 2–10mV, and had plenty of gain (41.5dB) for the 2.5mV Sumiko Blackbird. It has no lights, no bells, no whistles, and a big regulated wall-wart. And unlike the budget Slee that I wrote about in June 2002, the Gold Mk.V has a nicely made aluminum case. But you wont buy this one for its looks. Given its price and its miraculous—and this agnostic means miraculous—performance, I recommend the GSP Audio Era Gold Mk.V as enthusiastically, if not more so, as Ive recommended any product Ive reviewed and recommended in all the years Ive been doing this. Instead of dropping $1500 on a new cartridge to use with your less-than-outstanding phono stage, spend your $1500 on a Sumiko Blackbird and a Gram Slee GSP Audio Era Gold Mk.V, and you could live happily ever after in analog land. Nice condition ERA MK6 Belt Drive Table. Belt has been replaced. Bearings oiled.. Armboard is cut for SME 3009 Improved tonearm. Comes with dust cover that has some scratches and Cracks.. This turntable is identical to the ERA 444, including the ultra-slow, 48-pole synchronous motor, Silent Bloc mounting, and smoke-tinted Plexiglass cover. Please note that the SME 3009 Improved in the video is NOT INCLUDED and neither is the cartridge. Just selling the deck. Please keep in mind that this is a very basic turntable. 2 speeds and no way to adjust pitch. I only used it for LPs (no 45 adapter) and it is whisper quiet It plays fine to me, but I'm not making any guarantees because it is vintage. I really like the sound and quality of this table and I feel it's definitely a sleeper in the 70s belt drive category. Another very important note, when installing the platter on the drum, you need to line up the 3 marks inside the drum with the marks on the platter. Otherwise it will have a warp to it. Rare Vintage ERA MK6 Turntable Record Player With SME Armboard & New Belt Fitted. This ERA MK6 has been thoroughly tested and cleaned both inside and out and is in fantastic condition. The only downside is the lid which is cracked in one corner as shown in the photos so although its included, i am just throwing it in for free. This has just had a brand new drive belt fitted which isnt the easiest of jobs as needs to be stripped down just to do this. As can be seen, this does NOT come with a tone arm but does have the original SME armboard fitted. I have also fitted this with a brand new uk plug. Overall a superb piece of turntable history in fantastic condition. Just add the tone arm of your choice and away you go.
