This top of the line Professional CD Reproduction system is the father and full size version of the legendary LHH 2000 and has only served as a prototype and testing model before the LHH 2000 was finally introduced. It was developed by Philips best engineers of the Optical Disc Mastering Group at the Philips headquarters in the Netherlands and the result was the ultimate dream of every CD fan and the perfect CD player for professionals at the radio stations. With a price tag of 30.000 USD back in 1984 this dreamplayer would have cost a hefty 90.000 USD in Todays money for which you would get the very best of what Philips had to offer. With its solid build quality, the famous double TDA 1540D DAC and Philips very best CDM-0 transport it is a real gem to have. Only a few prototypes have been made of which this one is probably one of the best and most well preserved that still exists. This particular LHH 0502 system comes with the LHH0512 CD Drive Control System, 2x LHH 0511 CD Drives, the original remote control/ keyboard and a monitor. The system has been briefly tested and is unfortunately in defective condition, in need of repair or restoration. Optically the system looks good with only a few marks of use. It seems to have been well preserved over time and being a prototype, it seems to have had only very little usage as some parts look like new. In terms of its potential, being the father of the LHH 2000 it is expected that this system will definitely surpass it due to it being the full sized model instead of the miniaturized compact version which the LHH 2000 is. The power supply is for example huge in the LHH0502, vs the LHH 2000 which only has a small psu section in comparison. Being a system of seperate components is generally also better vs an all in 1 unit. And interestingly enough the CDM-0 transports of the LHH0502 seem to have the same rapid access technology that was later also used in the LHH 2000. So the lucky new owner that is able to restore it will be in for a treat in terms of sound and technology as it is expected to be very very good, even better than the LHH 2000.
