This Empire 598 turntable is a must-have for any serious audiophile. Crafted from high-quality walnut wood, it exudes a timeless elegance that complements any home decor. Its impeccable sound quality is sure to satisfy even the most discerning of listeners. Made by the renowned Empire company in the United States during the 1970s, this turntable is an original and authentic piece of audio history that is sure to impress. I tested it on my receiver and heard Santana fine. I would say this could use a new cartridge (Stanton brand installed) and definitely a stylus. The case could use further polishing etc. The cover has expected minor scratches, I believe most could be polished out. (distortion in picture of cover is reflection, not scratches!) There are two non factory installed screws in the case backstop , for strengthening the cover mount, not seen from the front. The tone arm definitely need adjustment, beyond my skill level. but currently tracks across record) I didnt want to mess around with it and potentially break something.I did install a brand new drive belt but beyond that is outside my skill level. Sold as is and believed to be a good item for the record player enthusiast. shipping cost of $110 to get it to buyer safely to lower 48 states only. Vintage Empire Troubadour Model 598 II Turntable is truly top of the mark ! From my father’s estate I truly know just how special this was to him and how he always went on about the quality. Myself I really don’t know much about hi-fi systems and I’m not into vinyl so I’ve decided to sell. This turntable is in good working order, it is very nicely maintained and in very good overall condition with only minor blemishes on the wood cabinet, dust cover is in excellent condition considering it’s age. He was very careful and gentle with all of his stereo equipment and took great pride in this particular piece. As I said before I’m not very knowledgeable about this turntable so please see all 24 pictures as they will serve as an important part of the description.
