This listing is for a 210-Watt Electro Voice model 7100 reference power amplifier in perfect operating condition and good cosmetic condition. This model was produced until 1995 and had a retail price of $500.00. It features a large E/I core power transformer and two recently replaced 10,000uF/63Volt filter capacitors totaling 20,000uF, with B voltages of +- 61.0 Volts, at idle. The smaller electrolytic capacitors on the power supply board have been replaced, as well. Large internal heat-sinking of the four, 130Watt, 180Volt 15Ampere TO-3P case output devices allow for safe operation into 4 Ohm loads with cool operation. There is a myriad of unobtrusive protection circuits to protect against any conceivable type of overload or unintentional misuse. These amplifiers are very reliable and reasonably difficult to damage. The circuit topology is quite respectable in its complication and thorough implementation. The front panel a power switch, level controls for each channel and two highly accurate LED clipping indicators. The rear panel has four 5-way binding post speaker terminals, two recently added RCA line-in jacks, two XLR line-in phone jacks, and 4 Ampere power line fuse. The unit measures 19W x 12D x 2.25H and weighs 18.5lb, unboxed. Into 8? non-inductive test loads, better than 105.0 Watts per channel are available from 20Hz to beyond 20kHz, with both channels driven. Into 4? loads better than 121.0 Watts per channel are available from 20Hz to well beyond 20kHz. The power output ratings are obviously quite conservative. I bought four of these units about 6 months ago, and have used them occasionally, as a part of my huge main system comprised of 2 JBL L-112 and 10 Pioneer HPM-40 bookshelf speakers. There was a pair of foam dampening discs on the front. A larger outer one that covered the face of the bezel. Then a smaller inner one that half covers the tweeter dome. The foam just crumbled away over time. It happens to all of them. You can find replacement foam dampeners online if you find them too bright without the dampeners. Tweeter works great and is tested. Fits other Electro Voice models too.
