There was a pair of foam dampening discs on the front. A larger outer one that covered the face of the bezel. Then a smaller inner one that half covers the tweeter dome. The foam just crumbled away over time. It happens to all of them. You can find replacement foam dampeners online if you find them too bright without the dampeners. Tweeter works great and is tested.
