ELAC Uni-Fi UB51-BK Speakers This auction is for a pair of well-cared, gently used ELAC Uni-Fi UB51 speakers. The condition is like new. I can find no dings or damage of any kind. The sharp corners are all intact (see photos), the grills are fine. These speakers are a real find. They were designed by Andrew Jones, the well-known British speaker designer. The UB5 is a three-way design with a concentric mid-range and tweeter, with the mid-range cone acting as a wave guide for the tweeter. The bass is surprisingly good for the size of the driver and the imaging is better than many much more expensive speakers. Youll look hard to find better sounding speakers at this size and price. Speakers are in pristine condition. They have a neutral and pleasing sound: they are relaxed, but not boring,they are smooth but dont lack detail.Before these, I had a pair of JBL530 with a Marantz amplifier and these steal the cake by sounding more natural. If placed in the right position in the room, they image really well. In my room, they have too much bass so I keep EQ in the back at -4db. The bass sounds nicely controlled and its fast when the bass is fast, and extended when needed. There is a lot of texture in the sound that I have not heard from the JBLs or some old pair of Kef LSX version 1. They are very good at teasing out the differences between different DACs. They sound really good with Chord and Geshelly Labs DACs in my new untreated lively room. When doing OpAmp swapping with the Geshelli Labs DAC, I could easily pick up the differences between different OpAmps. Selling them due to downsizing. Shipping in lower 48 states.
