I am the original owner of this Dynavector DV XX2MKII MC Cartridge. It has been used exclusively with a VPI Aries 3 Turntable and the JMW 10.5i tonearm. The XX2MKII has been one of the most musical cartridges I have had in my system to date. At the original retail cost of $2,100 its performance is well above this price point. A sweet spot in the Dynavector line. Cartridge is in excellent condition and has been used with extreme care in a no children, no pet, no smoking environment. Selling as I have upgraded my system. A late Friend of mine bought this Dynavector XX2 mk2 cartridge soon before he had a fall that broke an ankle, and, then he stopped using his turntable. I’d be surprised if there is more than 100 hours on this cartridge. He left it to me, and as much as I’d like to use it, I need to pay bills. It will come with the paper work, and screw’s, stylus brush and the shabby box I used tape on to keep it closed. It will be packed with care and here’s an opportunity to get a great cartridge that sells for 2150.00 for much less. Item has a few very minor scratches which can be seen in the many photos supplied. I had a tough time trying to get a good shot of the stylus tip, so there are many attempts at that here. The cantilever is straight, and, the tip is intact as it should be. This Cartridge has an Alnico Magnet, and that’s always desirable, no mater what it’s use is. Guitar pickups, Speakers, and cartridges. This alone makes it a more expensive option in the Dynavector line. The DV XX-2 mk ii was the first cartridge (actually, version 1) to feature a magnetic flux damper (patent) and softened magnetism (patent) processes that reject the magnetic fluctuation that is detrimental to a moving coil cartridges performance. The The DV XX-2 MKII retains the benefit of the flux damper but features the Alnico-5 magnet and the similar rigid construction to the Te Kaitora Rua. Alnico magnets exhibit high magnetic flux density combining with a low coercive therefore magnetic resistance is lower than other magnetic types such as rare earth and ferrite, providing the exceptional stability of the XX-2 MKII output voltage. There is also the additional advantage of low magnetic and electrical resistance contributing to a discernable improvement in sound quality. The XX-2MKII also exhibits deep powerful bass, treble is both clear and lively possessing none of the hardness found in many moving coil designs.
