Now, on to the show. If you collect old TV sets, this is one youve probably never heard of before, let alone, seen. The HITACHI MV-1U Memory Vision, introduced in the early 1970s, is the Worlds 1st TV with picture pause (freeze-frame) capability. No other TV set before Memory Vision had picture-pause. Serial Number 000280 It uses dual TV Screens; 14-inch viewing screen and 9-inch (freeze-frame) screen. It has an internal hard drive that stores the action from the larger screen at 30 fps and reproduces it onto the smaller screen with the wired remote control, or the button on the front of the tv. Because of their exorbitant $1,200.00 price tag in 1972, most Memory Visions were sold to schools, hospitals and businesses for educational and commercial purposes, and then, apparently, tossed in the garbage. This set powers up, receives a signal, but I have not been able to tune in many channels with my connection. I was able to pull in one station pretty good with a simple wired antenna hooked up to the back of the set, as seen in one of the pictures and 2 video links. Here are 2 YT videos of the set powered on: youtube.com/watch?v=tSUfmiMlBjg youtube.com/watch?v=rYdK1mJv6f4 Cosmetically, the set is in absolute brand new, showroom condition. Not a scratch on it. Ive talked with many collectors and TV repair shops, along with people in forums, and NO ONE has ever heard of this set before, let alone, OWNED ONE. But, now its time for me to let it go to someone that will appreciate it as I have. Rare addition to your vintage TV collection. German Press Release from 1972: (See last picture) A Japanese electronics company (Hitachi, Ltd.) has perfected a new type of television set that can immobilize the vision on a separate screen for the viewers scrutiny. Named Memory Vision, a 14-inch screen maintains the programme being shown, while a 9-inch screen can be instantly stopped by the viewer to hold any image being shown on the larger screen. It is the first of its kind in the world. The halt in motion is effected with a built-in memory core (a 3,600 -rpm magnetic disc) which records, as soon as the viewer switches on the memory circuit, one of the 60 successive images received each minute and immediately reproduces the image on the nine-inch screen. The same image remains effective until the next time the user switches on the memory by remote control. The sets go on the domestic market in June 1972, and exports start in the autumn. .. I am selling this set for the same price you could have bought it for, new, in 1972, plus the Ebay fees, which I believe are 14.95% + 30 cents. If Im wrong show me the evidence, and the price will be adjusted. Thanks. $1,200.00 + feesThis set, because of its weight and fragility, will not be shipped, unless you agree to leave me positive feedback before the set is sent off, and you provide me with the pre-paid shipping label. I will construct a very solid, memory foam-lined wooden crate for the tv at a cost of $100. The set weighs about 70 pounds, Im guessing, maybe more. Probably more. Id shoot for a shipping weight of about 90 pounds with the wooden crate. Shipped from zip code 60169. Meet at my bank, 5/3 Bank, either branch in Schaumburg on Higgins or Barrington Roads. Private sale. No sales tax. Local delivery within 5 miles of Hoffman Estates High School for $25.00. Delivery to Roscoe Village in Chicago for $75.00. 75 mile roundtrip for me. The TV can be inspected before you buy it. Located in Hoffman Estates, IL.This TV set is offered and sold AS-IS, AS-RECEIVED, without warranty of any kind, and with no refunds for any reason. If you wish to pay for this tv set in cash, we will meet at my 5/3 Bank Branch in Schaumburg IL, on Higgins Road or Barrington Road. Thank You.
