Vintage Denon DRM-740 Precision Audio Component / Stereo Cassette Tape Deck. Made in Japan Circa 1995 - 1999. Recorder + player. 3 Head system, allowing for simultaneous listening + recording. Dolby HX PRO & Dolby B + C Noise Reduction (NR). A serious piece of Hi-Fi ( hifi ) equipment from the 90s. No remote, but one can be bought online. Includes stereo RCA cable. One of the few high end Denon decks for sale with a US plug (120 v , 60 hz ). Fully working and operational. Completely stock, except I replaced the mechanism belts inside. The originals were slipping and no longer round. So I can guarantee not only that the deck works, but that itwill last longer than any units for sale that havent been serviced. Tape heads / mechanism were cleaned, and can be demagnetized upon request. I made sure to clean and test both the rear RCA jacks, and the front headphone line jack, and both worked great. Cosmetically, it is in wonderful condition. there is some very light cosmetic scratching on the exterior metal case, but nothing too noticeable. The most noticeable blemish would be a vertical scuff on the plastic over the display. It could possibly be polished over, but I didnt try. One vertical scratch on the cassette door, again only visible up close. But use the pictures to judge condition; metal has a nice sheen, and plastic is new-looking. This deck sparkles, and will still stand out in a stereo stack. This retro cassette deck would be a great gift for any tapehead or audiophile. Denon, the Japanese makers of many A/V receivers and decks, are known for their craftsmanship and quality. This is a very nice Denon model DRM740. This powers on the tape will play Rewind and run forwards with no problem. Unable to test any further than this.

Tested all functions. Has intermittent start up. I opened up the unit. Appears that the small pre start belt is slipping. ( see last photo). A small flick of the gear and the deck comes to life. Pre start motor is working. Once tape is playing all functions work great. I ran this unit for about an hours worth of play. Sounds amazing! A couple light scratches on the top but overall very nice cosmetics with very light use wear. Due to the fact that a repair is required i am selling this under parts and repair. Estate find selling as is as found. If you have any questions or need more photos please ask.
