Das Gerät wurde im deutschen Fachhandel im Dezember 2021 erworben und von Authentic Cinema im Juni 2022 aufwendig modifiziert (Rechnung über 847,24 € liegt vor). Das Gerät ist in einem sehr guten Zustand und kommt mit vollständigem Zubehör in der OVP. Die Modifikation Mit insgesamt 70 Bauteiländerungen und Bedämpfungsmaßnahmen ist der Umbau recht aufwendig und erfordert die komplette Zerlegung des Gerätes. Die Spannungsversorgung für das analoge Ausgangsboard wird komplett neu aufgebaut, bekommt beste Mundorf Kondensatoren, denen beste Audiokondensatoren zur Seite stehen. Die angelieferte Spannung von BANDO Trafo erfolgt, nach dem Umbau, über ultraschnelle High End Dioden. Die restliche Spannungsversorgung wird ebenfalls komplett überarbeitet. Auch hier fallen die schädlichen Brückengleichrichter der Modifizierung zum Opfer und die gesamte Pufferung bekommt beste Kondensatoren mit sinnvoller Vergrößerung der Pufferkapazität spendiert. Das Digitalboard wird ebenfalls überarbeitet und bekommt bessere Kondensatoren spendiert. Zudem werden alle Quarze (zuständig für den wichtigen Systemtakt) neu beschaltet und aufwendig stabilisiert, damit diese absolut präzise arbeiten können. Der 1600NE besitzt drei dieser Clock Bausteine , unter anderem sind für CD und SACD Wiedergabe unterschiedliche Taktgeber verantwortlich. Eine gute Voraussetzung, da der wichtige Systemtakt so nicht interpoliert werden muss. Die Laufwerksplatine wird ebenfalls sehr aufwendig bearbeitet, damit das Laufwerk absolut präzise arbeiten kann, denn was hier nicht sauber ausgelesen werden kann, das ist für immer verschwunden. Hier werden sämtliche Baugruppen für Motorsteuerung und Laserfokussierung mit besseren und größeren Pufferkondensaoren bestückt. Das Analogboard bietet sehr viel Potential für Verbesserungen und wir haben uns diesem angenommen. So müssen die billigen OP Amps besten Version von Texas Instruments, aus der Sound Plus Serie, weichen. Die Koppelkondensatoren wurden durch beste Wima Folien ersetzt und sämtliche Pufferbausteine mit hochwertigsten Bauteilen bestückt. An den richtigen Stellen wurden Kapazitäten erhöht und beste Audiokondensatoren verbaut. Das Gehäuse macht einen guten Eindruck, könnte aber etwas stabiler sein und etwas weniger hohl klingen, bzw. weniger empfänglich für Resonanzen sein. Daher bedämpfen wir das Gehäuse und den Deckel aufwendig an den richtigen Stellen, so bietet der Player nicht nur eine bessere Haptik, sondern neigt auch bedeutend weniger zum Resonieren. Der Umbau erfordert einige Stunden Arbeit und den Einsatz allerbester Bauteile, dafür kann das Ergebnis mehr als überzeugen. Nach dem Umbau spielt der Denon DCD-1600NE wie entfesselt, das haben wir zwar erhofft, aber nicht erwartet. Der Klang ist immer noch sehr substanzvoll, vermittelt nun aber Kontur und Impulskraft im Bassbereich. Nach oben scheint der Player keine Grenze mehr zu kennen und vermeidet dabei gekonnt jegliche Form von Härte. Das Klavier, vorher eher behäbig und grob, schwebt nun durch den Raum mit einer Leichtigkeit und schwingt traumhaft ein und aus, wie wir es nur von deutlich teureren Playern kennen. Saiteninstrumente bieten eine vorher nicht dagewesene Auflösung, mit dem richtigen Maß an Impulsivität und Kraft. Die gute Stereobühne mit brauchbarer Tiefenstaffelung des Seriengerätes, wächst beim modifizierten Gerät in alle Dimensionen und bietet noch bessere Platzierung der jeweiligen Instrumente bzw. Sänger. Der modifizierte Denon DCD-1600 NE schafft es den Raum komplett mit Musik zu füllen, bietet eine sehr breite Palette an Klangfarben und Facetten, dabei spielt er sehr kraftvoll und feingeistig zugleich.
