Finding sleepers has been a lifetime pursuit, with price per performance ratio the deciding factor in any acquisition. Definitive Technology speakers manufactured in Baltimore, MD while audio legend Sandy Gross controlled the company are super sleepers. One of the original founders of Polk Audio in 1972, Sandy left Polk in 1988 to start Definitive Technology. In 2006 Definitive Technology was sold to an electronics conglomerate and manufacturing operations were shuttered in Maryland and subcontracted to China, whereby component quality and construction decreased considerably. The bp-2004 were produced in the Baltimore facility from 1997-1999 and are a powered three way bi-polar tower speaker with a 10 side firing woofer powered by a 125 W amplifier, 5.25 midrange driver and 1 aluminum dome tweeter. The mid and tweeter are placed at ear level and they will perform differently according to placement. They are an 8 OHM speaker with a 20-250 W RMS power rating. The dimensions are 40.25 H X 7.25 W X 11.5 D and weigh 58 LBS. each. They are a one owner speaker purchased in 1998 in excellent cosmetic condition. The original leg stands are included, The terminals will be upgraded with new Rhodium banana plug inputs I ordered as movers hastily pulled the custom cables and cracked or broke a couple of the inputs.
