Description
The Definitive Technology BP8060ST SuperTower combo package is a full audiophile level Bi-Polar Surround sound system. These each have their own amp and 10 inch subwooker in the bottom. I am selling a full 5.2 (2 Stereo powered subwoofers each built into the bottom of each speaker. It also includes an upgraded center channel which is massive and two bi-polar read speakers, Other than the upgraded center cannel, this was a labor-day special where you could get the whole system for $1750 at the local Definitive Technology store, They are considered some of the finest speakers available They function both as the most incredible musical speakers especially for live recordings due to their bi-polar design but also as an almost too much system for home theater. I had them hooked up to a class a 700 watt Sony ES receiver and it was incredible. You could literally walk up to where the lead guitarist was standing in the sound stage and feel like you were walking up to the band member while they were playing. Sound isnt directed at you but around you. They remind me, although they are much better as it is newer technology, like the old Bose 901s where its a totally new experience. These speakers have kind of a tragic tale. I had the previous version when I lived in a warehouse condo. One of the cleaners backed into on of the main towers and shattered it on the concrete floor. Since they are all a matched set, insurance could only buy the latest version of the entire system. Definitive Technology had moved into bi-polar speakers so they gave me these, Even in a big concrete and cinderblock and steel I-Beam condo they were too much, so I turned down the powered speakers. Never really got to hear the system anywhere near its normal volume. Lets just say I had an amp that went to two or the neighbors came running. Very soon after there was/is a huge housing booms in one of the most sought after zip codes in the country, 30307. Jane Fonda was my across the street neighbor and I was very quickly told by my neighbor that my $1600/mo one bedroom loft was being sold for $700,000 US and I had to leave. For 12 years they sat in climate control storage next to my LG Super Capacity Washer and Dryer, my 3 burner Weber Gas Grill etc while I struggled to find. affordable places way way out in the suburbs of Atlanta. I finally saved 100K to at least move back into the perimeter of the city into a $420K house again. I had big plans to set this system up again finally and three days after closing, I had been fearing dizzy fir a coyote of days and at 8pm I collapse and woke up on the floor with my cat on top of me completely deaf. I had had an autoimmune attack that completely destroyed my left ear (MRIs.revealed that it looked like a bomb had gone off and the entire ear was dead) I would require a 110K Cochlear implant and.a year+ of almost constant physical/aural therapy to learn how to hear a whole new way. My right ear was still alive but it had only 5% hearing left and would require a hearing aid. My days hearing music or even needing anything that produced sound were over, Everything would eventually stream wirelessly into my head. So, I made the emotional decision after a long time to sell everything a deaf person didnt need. I kept one Sonos S2 Play 5 for guests. So my hearing loss is your gain I guess you could say. These are pick up only as I dont have the supply chain to make shipping them affordable. If you would like to arrange for a shipping company to come and get them after the sale is complete and ship them yourself, I would be available to let them have access to the speakers (there are 5 total to make up the whole surround system). One last neat thing about them. They look a little picked at and have a bit of cat har as most speakers get through the years. These speakers use a Sock technology where the speaker is dropped into a mesh enclosure that you can buy for $29 with drawstrings on the top and bottom and polished end caps to hide their secret. The drivers themselves are in pristine condition without even a spec of dust so if you really need them to look as good as they sound you can buy the socks here on eBay and other places. From Bing AI: Describe how Bi-polar speakers work: Bipolar speakers are designed with two or more drivers that produce sound in multiple directions1. The drivers in bipolar speakers are “in phase”, which means they push air (or sound) out at the same time12.Instead of projecting sound straight ahead like direct radiating speakers, bipolar speakers feature two sets of drivers pointed in different directions3. These drivers fire in-phase—both pushing and pulling air at the exact same time3.This design allows the sound to be dispersed more evenly throughout the room, creating a more immersive listening experience. Bipolar speakers can also be coordinated with your 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound system (or your A/V receiver) to add more depth to your existing setu
