I’ve been an audiophile since I was 12 and ordered my first amp and turntable thru the mail, after building my own speakers! Fast forward several decades, now I have more than I can handle. There are deals to be had, maybe you should have them, and get the same thrill I got when that first amp showed up on my porch. This is a DECCA Mk V (5, if you’re not into the whole Roman thing) STEREO PHONO CARTRIDGE. Many would call this a “London Decca”, but in fact this model of the cart predates the spin-off/sale of Decca Special Products in the late 1980s, and the “London” branding. Whatever the name, it’s a “Moving Iron” stereo cartridge with NO CANTILEVER (look up the design sometime, it’s fascinating), and a reputation as a finicky (very clean records and a low tracking angle work best; on the other hand, these put out a lot of signal and are OK with large variations in load) source of the liveliest, most immediate vinyl reproduction around. This one is TESTED WORKING, and comes mounted to a standard detachable head shell and correctly wired for same. The closeup photos of the diamond stylus are trying to show its VERY LITTLE USE; indeed the stylus looks almost TRANSPARENTLY CLEAN thru various 10x loupes.
