The Helicon S600 enclosure is made according to the same principles as the other Helicon speakers – very strong laminated panels, veneered and high gloss polished. The beautifully curved top can also act as a perfect cradle for the Helicon C200 center speaker. In a stereo set-up, the importance of a subwoofer is often underestimated. It is regarded as an option, rather than a necessity. However, in listening sessions with direct comparisons of a stereo set-up with and without a subwoofer, it is commonly agreed that a subwoofer increases the overall sound quality significantly. All we can do is to advise you to listen to stereo with and without a subwoofer and then make up your own mind. In surround, there can be no doubt about the need for a subwoofer. We acquired this unit along with a pair of Dali Helicon 400s and Dali Helicon 300s with their matching stands, also in the Rosenut finish. Made in Denmark, these Dali speakers are stunning. The soft dome tweeter, and Ribbon tweeter combination is outstanding. The speakers are in perfect working order, and there are no flaws on any of the drivers. These are the first Dali speakers that we have come across, and it looks like the 400s are going to be a mainstay in our house system. Physical condition of the C200 is very good. There are some light scuffs and blemishes, but the speaker presents itself extremely well. The bottom of the cabinet has some scratches, that can be seen in the attached pictures. The grill is intact, with no holes. One corner of it is slightly delaminated, but it is not noticeable when attached to the speaker. See pictures of the grill for details. We dont have the original box for this unit, but we take packaging and shipping seriously. We spare no expense and use heavy duty boxes, several inches of polyethylene foam on all sides of the unit, and use water activated, fiber reinforced tape on all seams.
