I replaced the sand cast resistors with wire wound and replaced the dayton audio caps with solan caps. i got all the upgrades from parts express. I also upgraded The Binding post and finished in a Karelian burl Birchwood with a satin finish. Please look at all photos because these are handmade. The Torii is named after the traditional Japanese gateway that marks the transition between the ordinary space and the sacred space. The Torii is a great introduction to what CSS has to offer, and as our most affordable kit to date, we think could be a gateway into high-end audio. The Torii uses a slightly scaled down version of our LD22 tweeter and an all new 5 1/2 woven glass fiber mid-woofer that utilizes distortion reducing shorting rings in the motor to improve accuracy and transparency. Both drivers have been well integrated through the crossover region through a combination of detailed measurements, modeling, and listening tests. We spent a significant amount of time on this design, listening, tweaking, and remeasuring, repeating this process several times to ensure we were providing something as close to our higher end kits as possible from these drivers. The end result is an incredible value leader with a musically engaging sound in line other offerings.
