COUNTERPOINT SOLID 8 LINE PREAMPLIFIER. Nice unit, not much else to say. Price great for this level of sound.

The unit works but requires new phono sockets on the back of the MM connection, I found that the loud humming was due to my electrical sockets upstairs, which are on a different circuit, there is still a low hum, but this could be due to several reasons , bad interconnects and my neighbour I am sure has something plugged in to stop me enjoying the music, I am sure it is easily fixed or may not even be there as it comes and goes. the sound quality is superb, even though its a bit industrial looking, the mono switch also help a lot especially when playing mono records, the mute switch is also very useful. The SA 3000 is now getting scarce and becoming a collectors item, due to its superb sound quality, they now sell for between £1100 to £1300 and either from Europe or USA which means shipping and taxes, this represents good value, as I have discounted it for the work required to fix it, as well as the included rare and highly expensive valves. This is a Hybrid Tube & Solid State buffers preamplifier Collection Preferred Superb Valve Phono Stage that uses 2 x 6922 valves very expensive 6922 OTK gold Pin Valves hardly uses as you can see by the pinsDriver valve is a very Very rare 1980s NOS Gold Dragon Valve gold pin, extremely expensive , original Chinese valve, as you again can see by the pins hardly used Valves today would cost around +£300 and they are not available to buy SA-3000 Preamplifier. This preamplifier was between the SA-1000 and the SA-5000. It features hybrid buffer/tube phono stage and line stage. It can accept MM or MC cartridges; the MC step up stage is solid-state. Technical Summary:The unit has two 6DJ8 tubes in the phono stage and a single 6DJ8 in the line stage. As with all Counterpoint preamps, there are two gain stages in the phono section with passive riaa equalization. The line stage is a single stage. There is no loop feedback All tube stages are followed with solid-state buffers, two per channel in the phono stage and one per channel in the line stage. The phono stage can be configured as a JFET/tube cascode for MC cartridges, or a simple tube stage for MM cartridges. Five line-level inputs plus tape in. Dual pairs of tape outs and main outs. Input Selector, Tape monitor, Mono/Stereo, Balance, Volume, Mute and Power controls. Solid-state power supply voltage regulator fed by vacuum-tube rectifier, and external transformer box and an all Aluminium front panel finished in silver anodize
