One of Conrad Johnsons finest solid state amplifiers. Cosmetically, this unit rates as good to these eyes. There are a few blemishes on the unit but nothing too crazy as depicted in the photos. About a year ago, the main filter capacitors were replaced with Kemet 62000uf 100v units. The originals were Sprague 59000uf 75v. The bypass electrolytic capacitors were also replaced with 470uf 100v types. Quantity 2 of each. The original box is included. The manual should be here but if not, is readily available on the Conrad Johnson website in digital form. Experience the Conrad Johnson Audiophile sound for a fraction of the cost of new.

Parts Parts Parts Up for grabs is a perfectly functioning MF-200 amplifier. The bias has been adjusted to 380 ma both channels. The DC offset has been dialed in to less than 3mv both channels. This amplifier sounds glorious yet has some rack rash/shipping damage. The front right lower faceplate is the most distinctive. Please see the photos for reference. Due to the nature of parts pirates on eBay, this unit is sold as parts only. Buyers with less than 100% feedback please take your hassles elsewhere.

This world class preamp was just upgraded from a series 1 to above series 2 specs by Avatar Engineering on 6/20/23 using Superior Mundorf Polyropelene Film capacitors with a Teflon by-pass capacitor. (See Photos). The preamp had approx. 200 hrs. use before the upgrade and an additional 150 hrs. after for correct burn-in of the caps!The ET7-S2 enhance triode line-stage preamplifier has been designed to incorporate the advances made with the Series 2 upgrade to our flagship GAT into a more affordable model. The circuitry of the ET7-S2 follows closely that of the GAT Series 2. The audio circuit is elegant in its simplicity. An audio amplifier stage consisting of a single-ended triode amplifier provides the voltage gain. This amplifier stage is connected to the preamplifier outputs through a high-current MOSFET buffer, which achieves a very low output impedance, making the ET7-S2 extremely flexible in the choice of interconnect cables and amplifiers. DC voltage is supplied to the circuit by the revised discrete voltage regulator developed for the GAT Series 2. This is a great sounding all FET (Field Effect Transistor) preamp featuring switching for six-line level inputs including tape monitor. Circuit highlights include a low output impedance which acts as a buffer between the level controls and the amplifier interconnect cables, avoiding the high frequency filter effect inherent in a passive control. This preamp has a unique zero-response circuit which exploits the symmetrical performance of N and P channel field effect transistors to cancel distortion without resorting to negative response. A low impedance discrete DC regulator powers this circuit, for minimum ac impedance at all audio frequencies. FET's are used in Sonographe audio circuits because of their tube-like square law transfer functions, which exclude unmusical odd order distortions that typify bipolar transistor circuits. Amplifier is in good condition, it has been with me and used in my system for over a year and has always performed well with a variety of preamplifiers and speakers. The packing and insured shipping of an amplifier of this size and weight is expensive and requires a good amount of time effort and materials, including shock indicating labels. Packaging will exceed the carriers requirements and is included in the price.In the unlikely event of damage, you would be responsible for filing the claim as all shippers require things the seller is unable to provide as they may ask to inspect the package and will want photos of the box prior to opening and once opened with packaging when received. You should always photograph packages before opening and during demonstrating the level of protection to help expedite the process. This unit has some modifications that are intended to help reduce electrical interference. There are no changes to the actual circuit, just things like rectifier diodes replaced, wires rearranged and shortened to reduce interaction between input, output and power, and ferrite beads added internally. The power cord is rerouted through the bottom instead of out the back, to keep it away from the signal wiring. There used to be a modification for a passive attenuator that sat on top with the signal cables routed through the top instead of to the jacks in the back, to keep the signal path as short as possible (that matters with a passive attenuator, not so much with a preamp). That modification is gone now, but there are a couple of small holes in the top where the wires used to run. Because of this, Im pricing this less than these units normally sell for.
