Conrad Johnson MF- 2200 Amplifier and PF-2 Preamp in Excellent Pysical and Working Condition

I am selling my good working condition Conrad Johnson MF2200 amplifier. It is currently hooked up to a pair of JM Lab Utopias and sounds great and is capable of driving these large floor standing speakers with ease and without issue. I have the original owners manual and I am only the second owner.

An audio amplifier stage consisting of a single-ended triode amplifier provides the voltage gain. This amplifier stage is connected to the preamplifier outputs through a high-current MOSFET buffer, which achieves a very low output impedance, making the ET5 extremely flexible in the choice of interconnect cables and amplifiers. DC voltage is supplied to the circuit by our latest discrete voltage regulator that isolates the audio circuit from the power line by maintaining negligible impedance across the audio frequency band. Infra-sonic noise is minimized by operating the tube filaments (heaters) on a dc voltage supplied by a separate regulated power supply. The ET5 is also notable for convenience and ease of use. The unit features input selection and level adjustment by microprocessor-controlled relays, with controls available both at the front panel and via a full-function remote. All control functions of the ET5 operate through microprocessor-controlled relays. For the level control, the relays select combinations from a network of precision, low-noise metal foil resistors to effect loudness and balance changes in 100 steps of approximately .7dB per step. All switching and adjustment can be controlled by the units remote control. A Theater Mode, which passes the input signal through at unity gain, makes it simple to incorporate the ET5 into a high quality home theater system without compromising its two-channel performance. Like its bigger brother, the GAT, the ET5 is constructed from the highest quality, carefully selected parts for unrivaled sonic performance and reliability. Tubes have been carefully hand selected for minimum noise and microphonics. The same CJD Teflon capacitors that distinguish the GAT are used in the ET5 for output coupling and post-regulator power supply storage. All other capacitors in the audio circuits and related power supplies are polypropylene or polystyrene - there are no electrolytic capacitors in the audio related circuits. The resistors in these circuits (including the two dozen level control resistors) are special low inductance, high-precision laser-trimmed metal foil resistors. Switches are sealed relays with gold-plated silver contacts. Input and output connectors are premium quality custom machined parts. Fantastic sounding and the best solid state amo I have heard.The MS-2001was the CJ companys top of line 200W stereo amplifier and the absolute best solid state amp I have heard ( I own mcintosh and the best kenwood supreme, had yba, bryston, linn klout and more.). Amp comes with the original box and packing, copy of owners manual.Cosmetically, the amp. I would rate it a 9 out of 10, sound quality wise a 10. Nom orignal rack handles- profid multiple handles or bolts to have faceplate flush without handles.Hate to part with it. The motif line was designed, engineered and used better quality components than the standard Conrad Johnson line.The Motif line, was the ultra high end offering . The Motif MS-2001 amplifier features MOSFET Input and Output stages. The face plate is quarter inch thick and is rack mountable. The case itself is high quality brushed aluminum. On the back are very high quality Teflon insulated RCA inputs and 5 way binding posts. Product infoMotif amps are something of a collector’s item these days. Although it was part of the Conrad Johnson family, Motif took a different direction by focusing on solid state technology instead. The MS-2001 was a big block power amplifier with 200W per channel in 8 ohms and 400W per channel in 4 ohms. By big block, we meant the chunky rack handles, 1/4? thick faceplate, a large transformer housed in an equally large housing and big heat sinks on the rear. The design is so yesteryear when every other power amp would look like this but in the face of the current crop of power amps, the MS-2001 actually look refreshing.Plugging this amp into our system, we like how it maintains its authority over the music. Bass was well controlled and tight with a nice warm mid-range (although not as liquid smooth as a CJ amp) and nice extended highs. It works well with either solid state or tube preamps and this amp will easily drive any speaker. Built quality is first class.Cosmetically, the amp is in excellent condition. It does not have original front handles and I will include alternate handles;nickel color and mahogany color, and shorter tapered bolts if you prefer clean faceplate with no handle look. So you have the flexibilty to tailor the look. I have original box and packing.Pick up in Chantilly, VA 20151 preferred. Comes with original box and packing.

Amplifier is in good condition, it has been with me and used in my system for over a year and has always performed well with a variety of preamplifiers and speakers. Please look at the photos, use the zoom tool and ask any questions you may have prior to purchasing. The packing and insured shipping of an amplifier of this size and weight is expensive and requires a good amount of time effort and materials, including shock indicating labels. Packaging will exceed the carriers requirements and is included in the price.In the unlikely event of damage, you would be responsible for filing the claim as all shippers require things the seller is unable to provide as they may ask to inspect the package and will want photos of the box prior to opening and once opened with packaging when received. You should always photograph packages before opening and during demonstrating the level of protection to help expedite the process. Damage is a rare event but does happen and packaging well is the only part of it we have any control of and will be done right. Package will have tamperproof Shock Watch Red II shock indicating labels affixed to 3 corners to record shock or impact past a specific level recommended for heavy electronics from any direction, these are large, easy to read, makes the package handlers notice and pay attention and the result is better treatment of the package as well as having proof of mishandling if needed

The Conrad-Johnson MF-200 is an audiophile MOSFET stereo amplifier with a tube-like sound. It delivers 200 watts per channel into 8 ohms, 373 WPC into 4 ohms, so it will drive just about any speakers. Recently tested, still working and sounds good. This unit has some modifications that are intended to help reduce electrical interference. There are no changes to the actual circuit, just things like rectifier diodes replaced, wires rearranged and shortened to reduce interaction between input, output and power, and ferrite beads added internally. The power cord is rerouted through the bottom instead of out the back, to keep it away from the signal wiring. There used to be a modification for a passive attenuator that sat on top with the signal cables routed through the top instead of to the jacks in the back, to keep the signal path as short as possible (that matters with a passive attenuator, not so much with a preamp). That modification is gone now, but there are a couple of small holes in the top where the wires used to run. Because of this, Im pricing this less than these units normally sell for.
