This is an outstanding one owner Conrad Johnson PV-12 preamplifier. It is in very good condition. The faceplate looks great and the unit is very clean. Everything is in working order and it really sounds great. Previous owner sent the unit to Conrad Johnson in 2012 where it was updated to C1. However, a fellow eBayer reached out to say he didnt see the C1 capacitors, FYI. Matching components available in our other auctions. This listing is for the preamp only. These blemishes are not readily visible, and do not detract from the overall wonderful appearance. As for the unit in general its a phase inverting no frills item. But then again, CJ is not about bells and whistles, its about sound quality. The PV12 gives a warm neutral sound. It doesnt flavor the sound in any exaggerated way that I can tell. It does offer excellent dynamics and clarity. What can I say? It just sounds right. If you find that this is not the case, check your tubes. I had one of the tubes go out and noticed it with a background noise. However, after replacing the tube, not only did the background noise go away, but the clarity and dynamics went through the roof!
