The Turntable is in working condition, NearMint optical condition. It was the last really well engineered and German and Switzerland made Turntable from Thorens Lahr. It is electronically based on the TD 320 / TD 520 series with a concrete base. It is a great sounding turntable. Nobody knows how many were made in total. Some say 200 others say 350. Does not include a tonearm, original box, owners manual, accessories, etc. Only the turntable transport is part of this offer. Some information is available at the other item I’m selling: a diy loudspeaker construction booklet. The low density concrete vibration free cabinets took a lot of design and construction time. The Tower is made of two standard cabinets acoustically connected which can come apart for transport. For interest I have also included photos of the more popular Faraday Emperor of which I also have one remaining pair. I notice Monitor Audio are also marketing a stone based design with the same philosophy of eliminating colouration caused by panel vibrations. I’m sure that the Hyphn is another significant improvement, but the £70,000 price tag is also a significant consideration. I also have a ‘spare’ pair of completed cabinets available, all ready and recessed to accept Focal drive units for the Emperor. A superb pair of Ariston SR-90 Concrete Lined Speakers These are sealed enclosed floor speakers and weigh a ton, approx 77kg each Fitted with good quality replacement bass drivers and Decca DK30R Gold Ribbon Tweeters which produce lovely crisp highs These speakers have worked well on my low powered valve amps alongside a more powerful modern amp, so they don’t seem fussy and are fairly sensitive There isn’t much information about these speakers online, so unsure if Ariston sold many at the time - but I imagine they would’ve cost a fair bit when new. Reason for sale is due to move they are a little too big for the lounge, otherwise I’d keep them. Collection only, or happy to work with your courier.
