Vintage Westminster Cassette Tape Player For Bike - Would Suit Raleigh Chopper. I have no idea how old this thing is but I would guess mid 80s, could be wrong though. Let down by the lid plastic which has gone super brittle so the hinge tabs and a retainer have snapped off. Part of the problem was the lid springs which are far too strong. I have removed these so that you can put a tape in and shut the lid properly. As it is, it works fine and the lid locks in place as it should. Ill include the broken parts and springs in case someone wants to try a repair. Note the photo of the reverse of the lid shows the parts glued back on, of course they all snapped off again as soon as I tried to refit it, I did try welding them back on but that did not work either. The cassette itself works much better than I expected it would, its had a new belt and some grease, through headphones it sounds at least as good as a modern player. It has a cradle to clip it to your handlebars, but this is missing the bits that actually go around the bars, ive seen similar fittings on brackets for locks etc so Im sure they are available, or just cable tie it on. A Rare collectable item that would make a great display piece for a shop or collector. Comes in original box which is in pretty good condition. It takes 4 AA batteries, the battery tray looks very clean, I would actually guess that this was never used. Ill include a Fab Boogie Nights disco compilation tape to try out.
