This custom built passive preamp is a DIY clone of the Cello Etude, and is built using all original, now-old-stock genuine Cello parts in the signal path. The faceplate and chassis are not from Cello and were custom made for this project. The volume control is a genuine Cello 59 position attenuator (built at the factory) of 20K impedance (versus 10K in the original Etude). The 4 position selector switch is also a Cello ITW switch that was used in the original Etude. There are 5 sets of RCAs (4 inputs and one set of outputs) that come from Cello, as well as the Teflon insulated shielded coax cable used to wire the unit. Even the ground binding post is from Cello. The two knobs are also from Cello, and although similar to the Etude knobs, the markings are not correct for the Etude, but work fine in this application and look great. The aluminum chassis was custom made for this project, and is the same dimensions as the original Etude. The chassis is all aluminum, and all hardware (also sourced from Cello) is stainless steel (will never rust or corrode). The faceplate is a custom engraved piece, measuring 9.5” by 3.5”. Overall, the amp is 10.75” deep with connectors - all dimensions the same as the original Etude. I built this preamp for my own use, and it has seen little use, so I am thinning my collection at this point.
