True Collectors Quality Condition CARVER C-500 250wpc @ 8ohm 450wpc @ 4ohmin showroom condition would have to rank in the top 5% for physical condition however amplifier is in protection, When I purchased this from the original; owner I was told it did not work, took it home and checked the fuses and the secondary 5a positive supply fuse above the transformer closest to the heat sink was blown. Pulled up the service manual from the Carver site and says will blow this fuse if output transistor is blown, a common situation with Phase Linear amplifiers and believe these may have been one of the first offering Bob Carver put out there after selling Phase to Pioneer. The service manual also mentions overdriving the amplifier well into distortion can cause this however knowing the 83-year-old gentleman that purchased this new I feel 99.9% sure he had never railed this amplifier .....ever. I have included a picture of that portion of the service manual for you to see exact what it details about the fuses. I have never attempted to pass a signal through this amplifier have powered it up to see what I would get and shows its in protection. have included a picture of that as well. This currently has the issue described and needs service I cannot accept returns for parts or repair units due to buyers getting into them attempting to service them with zero skills, catastrophically smoking them and returning for their money back.
