Product Information (From manual): The C-I as one of the worlds best pre-amplifiers. Forget for a moment the miracle of Sonic Holography Concentrate on one of the best pre-amplifiers on the market today. Accurately amplifying the infinitesimal output of a moving magnetic phono cartridge (with its varying impedance and capacitance) while matching the theoretical RIAA equalization curve built into every master disc is the true determiner of a pre-amplifiers sound. We start with two sepa­rate extended-curve phono stages utilizing the quietest multiple emitter transistors in the world. The result is virtually no cartridge interaction. Zero j normalized phase shift Zero group delay. Noise performance within one dB of the theoretical limit of real-world cartridges, No slew limiting, No over­load and Unmeasurably-low TIM distortion. Upgrade your hi-fi listening experience with this 1980s Carver amp and pre-amp set, with their owner’s manuals. I am the original owner of this C-1 sonic holography pre-amp (low serial number 1150), and 400-watt, M400 amp, both purchased new in 1981. I am selling them, reluctantly, due to moving to a smaller home without a dedicated music room. Both units were professionally serviced in November 2019 including “re-capping” the amp and replacing the power switch on the pre-amp. Both units are in excellent condition, both operationally and cosmetically (no warranty). The pre-amp has only a few minor scratches on its top due to rack mounting and some minor wear on the front edges; please examine all photos.
