I have for sale a pair of CANON S-50 made in the UK.  The Canon S-50 were designed by CANON in the UK as a side project to their normal day-to-day business. The sound - and I am speaking as someone who is known as an audiophile in my circle of friends - is pleasant, however, if you are after revealing whether or not Mark Knopfler had cut his nails before recording, then these are not for you.  However, they have a way of reproducing sound that I would describe as warm and as I mentioned above, quite a pleasant experience in listening. Furthermore, since the audiophile ambitions are not their prime focus I feel that CANON UK succeed at music reproduction. There are a couple of design features that really work well:  - Firstly the speaker is pointing downwards onto the curved surface, which means that the sound creation is supported by the speaker surrounded by the dome shaped housing. The sound waves are then projected well across the room giving a wide propagation of the sound. - Secondly, I always liked being able to put the cable through the stand cavity and up into the speaker connectors. This kept the speaker cable out of view.   - Thirdly, there is a substantial (M8 I believe) screw that secures the speaker to the stand.  As this is second hand, the speakers are sold as such. With old speakers you may want to consider replacing the loudspeaker element to bring optimum performance back, but when I ran them a couple of months ago they were sounding fine and then again this morning and later in the afternoon as I had them setup to allow a buyer to listen to them. The sound is pleasant and the buyer and I were amassed at the novel design coming out of the UK for this speaker pair, however, the marks (that I have now zoomed in on when adding photos) on the front of the speaker enclosure prevented the buyer from taking them home. I have decided to lower the price since I need to clear out the house.

Carefully refinished UK built speakers and stands, and the cone are undamaged and the surrounds un-perished. Ideal for front speakers for surround system. Working perfectly. Had them from new, I like them, sound is good and they always cause interest by their design. Only reason to sell is I have downsized and have no room for them, got bookshelf speakers now. All I can say is you wont be disappointed by the finish or the sound. Ive looked after them, the sound reflection surfaces are unscratched and suggest a feather type duster not a cloth will keep them that way. They would be very difficult to disassemble, pack and ship so would prefer collection or meet halfway or similar? I hope they serve you well as they have me
