This is a rare Cambridge Audio C500 Control Amplifier exemplifying the traditional simple no-frills quality design of British audio products. The unit features the basic controls for input selection, tape recording loop and tone control. The unit is in perfect working order and good cosmetic condition. This model was originally supplied without the phono pre-amplifier board, which was sold separately. I built a high performance preamp using the design developed by Professor W. Marshall Leach of Georgia Tech (see leachlegacy.ece.gatech.edu). It is a discrete Op Amp design exhibiting Wide Bandwidth and low TIM distortion. I integrated it into the Control Amplifier as shown in the photos, and it sounds great. The Amplifier has remote control capability for volume setting. I am including an after market remote control programmed to actuate the volume control. It also works perfectly. Overall, this is a unique item that will provide excellent sound and system control for the user requiring basic preamp functions in a music system.
