Cambridge Audio Azur 840C Upsampling CD Player w/Remote Serviced For sale, we have a Cambridge Audio Azur 840C Upsampling CD Player, with the original remote. The unit is in excellent working order, the transport is responsive, and the display is clear. This is a very well made unit. We obtained the unit in a collection. On our bench, the transport worked quickly, and smoothly. The digital and optical outputs functioned as they should. The analog outputs, both RCA, and XLR had some distortion in the right channel. Upon review, we discovered that this is a common problem in these players. As per Cambridge Audio, we replaced the specified six capacitors that were failing, (three on each channel) with Nichicon caps, and it solved the issue. We found two of the six capacitors were way out of spec. The unit is in very good physical condition with some scuffs and blemishes, most notably on the top of the unit. There are no deep scratches, or dents on the unit. The original remote is included and is in working order. Please see the many pictures in the listing for further details. We dont have the original box for this unit, but we take packaging and shipping seriously. We spare no expense and use heavy duty boxes, several inches of polyethylene foam on all sides of the unit, and use water activated, fiber reinforced tape on all seams. Kenner wissen: Mit dieser nach Class XD System arbeitenden Kombi hat man eine Kombi mit der sich auch grere Lautsprecher mit ordentlich Pegel verzerrungsfrei betreiben lassen. Zustzliche Effizienz gewinnt diese Class XD (fr Crossover Displacement, also Verschiebung des bergangspunkts) getaufte Technik, indem sie das Ausma der Verschiebung signalabhngig anpasst. So soll sie ber den ganzen Leistungsbereich niedrigste Verzerrungen garantieren, bei gleichzeitig noch akzeptabler Energie-Effizienz und bezahlbarem Konstruktions- und Khlungsaufwand. Up for your interest I have an upgraded Cambridge audio azur 840E preamplifier. A total of 66 relays and all electrolytic capacitors replaced. The encoder serviced and works perfectly. These units over time needs service to make them perform as new again. The cost to service the unit was $600+. THE UPGRADE PROCESS: The upgraded relays are fujitsu sy-9w-k and on the signing path Nichicon muse BP were used [Green color] capacitors. The power supply was graced with Panasonic FCs capacitors. Decoupling capacitors; Nichicon Fine Gold and bypass capacitors are Wima mkp2. Output resistors replaced with Takman REY Metal Film resistors. THE SOUND: The sound is amazingly good! As you can tell alot was put into this hence the hefty price on the upgrade costs. The unit is in near mint cosmetic condition but it is not functional. I powers up fine, but has the typical issue in these units where volume control does not respond to the knob. The Internet forums identify this as the encoder behind the knob either being dirty or worn out with instructions for cleaning or replacement. I have no electronics experience so I used it like this fine with the remote. Unfortunately, the remote just stop working. I am hoping somebody might want to fix. I have for sale very nice Cambridge Audio Azur 840E preamplifier. All electrolytic capacitors were replaced and a total of 66 MASSUSE relays upgraded to Fujitsu SY-9W-K relays . It cost me $600 for parts and labor. Item in used condition showing signs of use and wear including scratches. When tested the unit powered on the buttons worked, display was fine, disc plays great. This issue I found is that the white RCA port has a high pitched feedback noise. I have not tested any of the other outputs as I don’t have any other cables fitting those connections.
