Description
You will see a lot of Boston Acoustics VR-M 50s and VR-M 60s speakers available on eBay today, even though they havent been made for a very long time! That shows how extremly well built, how solid they are. I really love their sound; wide open with pinpoint positioning of sounds (imaging). The VR-M 60s are slightly bigger with a deeper bass than their little brothers. They sound much more like floor-standing speakers than a compact, bookshelf sized cabinet. The rock-solid cabinet construction gives you Tight, exciting Bass! Many of the VR-M 50s and VR-M60s sold on eBay have delicate Lynfield tweeters that have been damaged or bent. Sometimes you can see the damage in the photos, sometimes not. The seller may or may not disclose that damage, because they still make sound, even when theyre damaged. However! A damaged Lynfield tweeter will not give you the benefit of what makes these speakers so special! The MAGIC of these tweeters is an uncanny ability to throw a wide field of sound AND to place points of music in a precise postiion between AND beyond the speakers; so you get the sensation that you are in the studio, or at the concert; instead of standing outside, listening through 2 windows to the performance, with very little between those two windows. The Lynfield tweeters in these speakers are in perfect shape; and give the signature Boston Acoustics wide, clear, precise musical image! Others VR-M speakers listed here on eBay may not give you that unique sound. I have these speakers in my system now, and I can assure you they sound perfect! You will notice 2 sets of speaker wire terminals with gold connectors on these speakers. Boston Acoustics added the capacity to Bi-Amp these speakers, to hook up separate amplifiers to the tweeter and the woofer for Audiophile grade sound. You may notice many of the VR-M 60s for sale on eBay no longer have these connectors. You can get around this by adding speaker wire to connect those terminals if you choose to play them with a conventional amp. They wont work properly without these conectors. These Boston Acoustics VR-M60 speakers come in a gorgeous, real cherry wood veneer cabinet. They are not perfect, they have lived a real life, but they look beautiful, just the same. Speakers like these VR-M60 speakers will never come around agaIn! Savor their sound while you can! Please check out my 100% POSITIVE rating and relax. I will package these babies with great care, so they reach you in the best possible condition. Thank you or looking. Savor them! Boston Acoustics Unveils Elegant, Monitor-Quality Speakers, The VR-M50 And VR-M60 Marrying superior technology with stylish design, Boston Acoustics today announced the introduction of an elegant line of speakers, the VR-M50 and VR-M60.Finished in cherry or black ash real wood veneer with a gloss gray top panel, these speakers are designed to deliver accurate, natural reproduction - and are a perfect choice for even the most discerning Audiophile or Home Cinema enthusiast. Indeed, the Monitor title is not simply a marketing ploy - these small speakers are very definitely recording studio quality. These speakers are Bostons first real wood Monitor style speakers with die-cast baskets, and are the finest bookshelf speakers ever produced by Boston Acoustics.Although the beautiful wood veneer and Bostons legendary quality fit and finish are the first things to catch a persons attention, these new models are not simply an exercise in styling. All the leading edge speaker technology for which Boston is so well known is also incorporated into these new models. Die cast aluminum baskets, Bostons renowned VR tweeter with heatsink, and a heavily braced cabinet all help to position these models technically at the top of their class - in all terms - style, performance and technical excellence. Product Highlights: The VR-M50 and VR-M60s bass units feature die-cast aluminum baskets that keep the critical moving parts in precise alignment for accurate response. The die-cast baskets also conduct heat away from the voice coil, increasing power handling and maximizing output. The woofer cones and surround geometry were designed and optimized with Bostons Finite Element Analysis (FEA) computer modeling technology for strong bass and smooth midrange. The VR-M50 and VR-M60 handle high frequencies with Bostons patented 1-inch aluminum tweeter with Amplitude Modification Device (AMD). This driver delivers a smooth, flat response well beyond the audible range. A die-cast aluminum heatsink attached to the tweeters backplate dissipates heat quickly and efficiently, assuring cool, trouble-free operation, even at very high power levels. The drivers are positioned closely to each other for smooth, uniform radiation in both the horizontal and vertical planes.Housed inside the cabinets are heavy window-pane braces to assure strength and rigidity, eliminating cabinet resonances. The rear-mounted vent is smoothly flared at both ends to reduce port turbulence and both speakers feature dual gold-plated binding posts, allowing bi-wiring or bi-amping. Both systems also feature MagnaGuard magnetic shielding for compatibility with home theatre systems.Specifications: The VR-M60The VR-M60, priced at $1,000/pr.
