This Sunfire Cinama Seven Bob Carver Signature Version 400 Watts X 7 Channel power amplifier is a must-have for any home audio enthusiast. Im selling my Very Rare Bob Carver Research Lightstar Direct Preamp. The Lightstar Research project was one of the final contributions of Bob Carver before leaving Carver Corp, decades ago. The Lightstar Research project produced some of the greatest innovations of Bob Carver, that he carried over to Sunfire Corp., when he started that company. This preamp is heavy, with its chassis built from a solid billet of anodized aluminum, and its design. This unit comes with the NECESSARY original remote, required to operate the preamp - and often missing - and when offered alone on Ebay, sell for $300-$400 or more. There are some minor blemishes on the bottom and sides of the unit. I have not attempted to cover them up with Sharpie, however that would make them all but invisible. The photos show the blemishes - please look carefully. The faceplate when the preamp is in your rack with other gear is great, and the blemishes are not noticeable. Note on Remote Control. This is the remote they call the brick and its a solid peice of aluminum. The previous owner to me allowed batteries to leak. Its all cleaned up now, and the remote is fully operational - but upon opening the remote, the blemish from leaked batteries is evident - this is not noticeable from the outside, nor in terms of function. The Lightstar Direct Preamp operates in passive balanced mode using a stepped attenuator for volume and balance. Unbalanced equipment is also accommodated with high quality interface circuitry. All functions are controlled with the handheld remote control. The Lightstar Direct features the following. - Six input selections, 3 balanced, 3 unbalanced. - Balanced and unbalanced stereo outputs - Balanced signal path operates in true passive balanced mode - Unbalanced inputs are interfaced with high quality “Butler” Burr Brown devices at the output - Selected input appears at both the balanced and unbalanced output - Computer controlled stepped attenuator to adjust volume and balance using high quality resistors and relays. Im selling my personal Sunfire Cinema Grand, 5 channel power amplifier. It provides 200 watts per channel into 8 ohms delivering tremendous power, low distortion and awesome sound quality for both multi-channel and stereo listening. The amplifier is in great working order and sounds wonderful. I have treated this amp very kindly and its overall condition is very good, but there are some minor scratches on top and sides from moving it around over the years. I used a flash on some pics to accurately portray condition, but without it you may not notice the scratches much. The front face and glass are in great shape and the original meter lights work. This is a fabulous and well-reviewed amplifier designed by the legendary audio equipment designer, Bob Carver. I have enjoyed it every day for well over 20 years and Im sure you will love it as well. Im only selling because I need a physically smaller amplifier to fit in my new (and rather shallow) BDI media cabinet. Im sad to see it go...
