======== International buyers welcome ! ======== B&O Bang & Olufsen Beomaster 900K Selling out of a private collection: Danish design receiver by Henning Moldenhawer 1964.Classic vintage receiver from danish Bang & Olufsen in beautiful untreated light oak cabinet.Widely known for its edge-lit dial where only the lettering lights up - not the entire dial. The design broke away from what was tradition back then. Up until then a radio was a fairly high and large piece of furniture with more or less rounded corners, a dial with round knobs and piano type keys with the speaker cloth above, all framed in wood. The thoughts behind Beomaster 900K were completely new and different; With its low profile, square and modern design and no serious need for ventilation, it would fit in everywhere and easily make room designs much smarter.Henning Moldenhawer extended the use of the radios front all the way to reach both sides and put the speakers at each end in perfect match with the rest of the front face. A slim-line receiver which also was completely new inside; Fully transistorized using germanium semiconductors. No valves (tubes) meant no warm-up period but instant sound when it was turned on - and it was prepared for the stereo signals soon to fill the airwaves. The speakers were of the pressure-chamber type (in 1964 !) which gave the best sound possible and still took up only little space.Where most FM tuners at the time were limited to 100 or maybe 104MHz, the Beomaster 900K covered the full range 88-108 MHz. All in all, it was rather unusual for its time and it turned heads everywhere - and still does today. It has inputs for antennas, turntable and tape (or CD), outputs for 2 (alternative or extra) speakers. This unit is the K-model with built-in speakers and the sound is very warm, pleasant and powerful, considering its age and size. You can listen to it for hours without it being wearing on the ears. The built-in speakers are absolutely worth listening to and if you connect external speakers youll experience what made B&O world-famous already in the 60s.Furthermore; this unit has 2 separate dials, one for FM and one for AM. Both adjusted using the same knob but automatically switched between when changing band. This means that you wont lose a tuned-in FM station when switching to - and tuning in on an AM station or vice versa. Stereo was hot news back then and this Beomaster actually HAS the stereo decoder installed! The stereo decoder was an optional extra offered for owners living in areas with stereo broadcasts (and for those who could afford it). Appearance:The general appearance of this Beomaster is extremely nice!Probably as nice as I believe a 50+ year old radio could be.Cabinet is veneered in beautiful real teak.It has a nice silky shine and, even looking very close, only very tiny marks of age and wear can be seen.I can spot a very tiny imperfection to the dial, near the right end of the grey memory-bar. Not a lot after all these years and part of its history. It is really beautiful. This Beomaster has been part of a personal B&O collection for years and would probably be of interest not only to collectors and design museums but also people caring about what to put in their homes. It would be a perfect fit for any 60s style decor or a classy study or bedroom. This is not just a radio - its also a classic piece of design furniture that you do not have to hide away when not in use - actually that would be a shame. From a time when things were built and tested by humans. It actually still has the original quality control sticker from Danish Furniture Makers on the side (see photos). All photos are of the actual Beomaster, take a look and agree that this is indeed a little beauty. Technically:This Beomaster was recently serviced and has been tested for hours prior to auctioning.Dial lamps are new.Even the rubber feet are new!All functions and lights work exactly as they should.Nice sound, lots of stations and volume on FM and even if I live in a very quiet AM area I was still able to tune in a few stations on the AM wavebands, and that even using only the built-in antennas. The optional stereo decoder has been built in and of course it works wonderfully, just like everything else with this Beomaster, though the decoder, being one of the first of its kind, requires a fairly good antenna signal to fully eliminate a slight background hiss when playing stereo.Accepts mains voltages 220-240V 50/60Hz. A simple step-up transformer would be needed for use in 110-120V areas (not included). This is a fully functional collectors piece. If you are looking for a nice and well functioning classic stereo receiver from a time when things were quality hand-builds, this is definitely the one to grab! This is quality vintage goods with some weight, shipping weight is estimated at 12Kgs (30 lbs).
