Description
======== International buyers welcome ! ======== B&O Bang & Olufsen Beomaster 900M Selling out of a private collection: Early danish design stereo receiver by Henning Moldenhawer 1964.Classic vintage receiver from danish Bang & Olufsen in beautiful teak cabinet.Widely known for its edge-lit dial where only the lettering lights up - not the entire dial.Where most FM tuners at the time were limited to 100 or maybe 104MHz, the Beomaster 900M covers the full range 88-108 MHz.Fully transistorized using germanium semiconductors. It has inputs for antennas, turntable and tape (or CD/Phone etc.), outputs for speakers. This unit is the M-model, and the sound is very warm, pleasant and powerful, considering its age and size. You can listen to it for hours without feeling it wearing on the ears. This receiver has 2 separate dials, one for FM and one for AM. Both adjusted using the same knob but automatically switched between when changing bands. This means that you wont lose a tuned-in FM station when switching to - or even tuning in on - an AM station or vice versa. Stereo was hot news back then and this Beomaster actually HAS the stereo decoder installed! It was an optional extra offered for owners living in areas with stereo broadcasts (and for those who could afford it). Appearance:The general appearance of this Beomaster is extremely nice!Probably as nice as I believe a 50+ year old radio could be.The cabinet is veneered in beautiful real wood. Recently cleaned and oiled to a rich and lovely silky shine.I can spot a hairline pressure mark on the top towards the rear, - nothing very bad (see photos). No fingerwear on buttons.Really beautiful. This Beomaster has been part of a private B&O collection for years and would probably be of interest not only to collectors and design museums but also people caring about what to put in their homes. It would be a perfect fit for any 60s style decor or a classy study or bedroom. This is not just a radio - its also a classic piece of design furniture that you do not have to hide away when not in use - actually that would be a shame. From a time when things were built and tested by humans. All photos are of the actual Beomaster, take a look and agree that this is indeed a little beauty. Technically:This Beomaster was recently serviced and has been tested for hours prior to auctioning.Dial lamps are new.Even the rubber feet are new!All functions and lights work exactly as they should.Nice sound, lots of stations and volume on FM and even if I live in a very quiet AM area I was still able to tune in stations on the AM wavebands, and that even using only the built-in antennas.Accepts 220-240V 50/60Hz. A small voltage converter would be required to operate in 110-120V areas. This Beomaster has the optional stereo decoder installed. This is a fully functional collectors piece. If you are looking for a nice and well functional classic stereo receiver from a time when things were quality hand-builds, this is definitely one to consider! This is quality vintage goods with some weight.
