This is a Jacob Jensen-designed Bang & Olufsen System Cabinet — the SC17 — in rosewood and aluminium. These were offered by B&O around 1980-1982 and were primarily designed to house the Beosystem 1700. You could house the amp, record deck and tape player along with records, headphones or whatever else you could slot into the removable metal shelving that is held in place by fitted clips. Wiring can be fed through an aperture on the lower level of shelving and there is an extension cord holder fitted to the underside of the unit for neatness stake. Also, the finish of these was such that the back is as good as the front, so they can be used as either a sideboard or a room divider. Very smart and extremely well made. This measures 100cm across, 34cm at its deepest and is 61cm high. Condition is genuinely cusping impeccable. All the trim is present and solid, the veneers are pretty much faultless, shelf plates and clips are all present and correct and there is only very light hints of putting to the very foot of the metal stand. You also get the original brochure to, um, unfold. This is a beautiful example of a rare and correctly sought after piece of B&O history — if you’ve got the gear, this is the stuff of lusty storage daydreams.
